The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Estimating & Operations Director to serve as the senior operational leader of the company, overseeing estimating, project execution, field operations, scheduling, purchasing, financial performance, and team development.

This is a high-impact leadership position for someone who understands the technical side of automatic doors and commercial entrance systems while also having the business acumen to manage people, projects, profitability, and day-to-day operations.

You will work directly with ownership to turn company goals into operational results, improve internal processes, strengthen customer and vendor relationships, and ensure projects are estimated accurately and executed profitably.

If you're an experienced specialty construction leader who can move comfortably between estimating, project management, field operations, and executive decision-making, this is an opportunity to play a significant role in the continued growth of the company.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Estimating & Preconstruction
  • Review plans, specifications, proposals, and customer requests to determine project scope and requirements
  • Conduct site evaluations to assess existing conditions and identify project needs
  • Prepare detailed estimates incorporating labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and project timelines
  • Develop and submit proposals, quotations, and competitive bid packages
  • Negotiate pricing with suppliers and subcontractors while protecting project profitability
  • Coordinate material and equipment purchasing following project approval
  • Ensure proposed work complies with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, fire and life safety standards, manufacturer specifications, and automatic door industry requirements
  • Track actual project costs against estimates to continually improve estimating accuracy
  • Project & Operations Management
  • Oversee projects from award through successful completion and closeout
  • Coordinate technicians, installers, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and project schedules
  • Monitor budgets, schedules, job progress, and overall project profitability
  • Direct daily business operations and establish priorities across service and installation activities
  • Oversee technician scheduling, service calls, installation work, inventory, and purchasing
  • Develop and improve operational processes to increase productivity and efficiency
  • Monitor job completion, service performance, and customer satisfaction
  • Resolve operational challenges and customer concerns quickly and professionally
  • Ensure work complies with OSHA requirements, applicable building codes, accessibility requirements, licensing regulations, and industry standards
  • Leadership & Business Performance
  • Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate office staff, technicians, installers, project personnel, and subcontractors
  • Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, teamwork, safety, and exceptional customer service
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, expenditures, and profitability analysis
  • Analyze financial and operational performance to identify opportunities for improvement
  • Provide regular operational and financial reporting directly to the Owner
  • Build strong relationships with customers, contractors, vendors, suppliers, inspectors, and industry partners
  • Identify opportunities for business development, operational improvements, and market expansion
  • Implement company goals, policies, and strategic initiatives established by ownership

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven leadership experience within **automatic doors, commercial doors, storefront/glazing, specialty construction, or a closely related industry**
  • Strong estimating experience with the ability to accurately evaluate labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of **automatic door systems, storefront, glass and glazing, manual doors, hollow metal doors, wood doors, hardware, and ICU doors**
  • Strong understanding of installation, service, inspection, and troubleshooting requirements within the industry
  • Working knowledge of ADA requirements, building codes, fire and life safety requirements, OSHA standards, and automatic door compliance standards
  • Demonstrated project management experience overseeing projects from estimating through completion
  • Experience managing technicians, installers, office personnel, and subcontractors
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, job costing, and profitability
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with estimating software, business management systems, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to manage multiple departments, projects, and priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications & Experience

  • Senior operations or management experience within the automatic door industry
