What’s a typical day as a Project Accounting Advisor? You’ll be:
  • Performing and supporting monthly close activities related to capital projects and capital assets.
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, cost transfers, and supporting documentation.
  • Supporting project accounting activities including project setup, cost tracking, capitalization readiness, and project closeout.
  • Analyzing and resolving complex accounting issues and discrepancies.
  • Leading recurring and ad hoc reporting on capital projects and capital assets.
  • Supporting AFUDC/IDC calculations and related accounting processes.
  • Assisting with cost transfer, allocation processes, audit requests, SOX/internal control requirements, and system or process improvement projects.
  • Maintaining and enhancing RTR process documentation, narratives, and supporting procedures.
  • Partnering with multiple stakeholders and providing technical guidance and coaching to analysts.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Bring 4 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience, especially in project accounting, capital accounting, fixed assets, or construction accounting environments.
  • Possess advanced Excel skills and proficiency with large ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Are comfortable managing multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Have experience in project cost transfers, capital accruals, AFUDC/IDC, and capital reporting (preferred).
  • Are a CPA or CPA candidate (preferred).
  • Possess experience in regulated utility accounting or with fixed asset unitization, depreciation, asset retirement, and CWIP (strongly preferred).
