Job description

This position must live within commute distance of the S&K Polson Executive Offices to be considered.

The Project Manager I is an entry level position for SKMM projects and will support the Project Manager II in the timely completion of the assigned projects. This position will be provided on the job training and mentorship for this role in addition to time and allowance for certification attainment. On the job training will include assisting in directing, maintaining, and controlling all project related functions at the operations level will adhere to the approved budget of each assigned project to meet the company’s business plans and objectives. Strong preference will be given to tribal members and those with commercial and heavy construction. The Project Manager I will interact and present to various customer and internal groups regarding ongoing projects, participating in the establishment, design, and implementation of major goals and objectives and assist in performing due diligence on prospective projects with Program Manager II support as needed during OJT.

Essential Functions of the Job:

  • Engage in and support project set up in Cost Point.
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress of a project to ensure the project is meeting the budget & schedule goals and supply upper management with up-to-date reporting.
  • Draft/edit scope of work requirements.
  • Work to ensure project budgets and scheduling is up to date and work with corresponding personnel at corporate to make the necessary updates in Deltek.
  • Assist with due diligence on prospective projects to include creation/review of preliminary budgets and schedules; review of site related reports; interface with local agencies as needed to determine the viability of a project.
  • Develop written and verbal briefings and reports as required to perform market research and evaluate competition.
  • Maintain vendor and service provider relationships.
  • Remain acutely aware of market trends that could impact resource costs and be able to speak to trends and recommendations to change.
  • Keep up to date on possible cost-cutting opportunities and partnerships.
  • Analyze, ensure accuracy, process, and submit invoices for payment to ensure correct products/services were received at the expected cost and payments are timely sent out.
  • Support in development of RFQ/RFP processes and contracting.
  • Create and maintain project schedule for the duration of the project.
  • Coordinate the approval of agreements and manage the execution of those agreements including tracking deliverables, schedule and invoicing.
  • Maintain budget performance and report updates monthly, quarterly, or as requested.
  • Conduct or participate in post award meetings with customer, subcontractors, and other necessary parties.
  • General coordination with customer, project managers, subcontractors, site superintendent, etc.
  • Manage subcontractors where/when needed.
  • Conduct or participate in on-site inspections, startups, final walkthrough, turnovers, etc. as required for the project.

Education

  • Associates degree required in project management, Finance, or business, or
  • Four years relevant work experience may substitute for degree requirement (e.g., project management, construction or related types of work, or another related field)

Experience

  • This is an entry level position, a minimum of 2 years of experience in project management is preferred
  • Experience in establishing contacts and relationships with customers/clients, general contractors, and vendors is required

License, Cert or Registration

  • Current driver’s license required for driving plus reliable transportation
  • OHSA-10 Certification – can be earned following hire
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate- can be earned following hire
