Project Manager

General Objective of the Position

The Project Manager is responsible for the planning, execution and closeout of projects on time, within the defined scope and within budget.

This role involves managing resources, coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring projects are aligned with the organization's strategic objectives. The Project Manager will manage moderately complex projects, bringing expertise in project management methodologies and best practices.

The Project Manager is responsible for project execution and ensuring full compliance with P.Q.P. requirements: Prevention, Quality and Productivity.

Job Duties

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Plans and executes projects according to Boccard's internal project management system and established best practices.
  • Is responsible for delivering projects on time, according to specifications and within budget.
  • Monitors project performance and achieves budget objectives through project closeout.
  • Manages project budgets and reports estimated costs versus actual costs in relation to physical progress.
  • Analyzes and explains technical and budget variances.
  • Closes projects, prepares project post-mortems and reports final project KPIs.
  • Plays an active role in maintaining a strong relationship between the company and the client.
  • Acts as the liaison with all project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle and serves as the primary client contact for project-related communications.
  • Prepares quotations, writes proposals and supports technical alignments.
  • Executes and follows up on change-order requests in accordance with contractual agreements and internal procedures.
  • Prepares and manages staffing plans and identifies internal and external resource requirements.
  • Manages the project team and organizes and leads internal meetings, including kick-off meetings and weekly/biweekly project meetings.
  • Applies standard engineering practices to complete and/or review calculations, spreadsheets, drawings, piping layouts and functional descriptions.
  • Plans and coordinates with various departments to ensure tasks and milestones are completed on time and according to specifications, including design reviews, P&IDs, 3D models and P&ID markups.
  • Manages and validates technical calculations and specifications.
  • Works closely with the Supply Chain department, including planning the Supply Chain kick-off meeting and following internal purchasing engagement procedures.
  • Prepares and validates receiving protocols and approves installations.
  • Coordinates shop fabrication and on-site installation for assigned projects and may supervise equipment installation when required.
  • Organizes and facilitates acceptance testing, including simulations, FAT, SAT and qualifications.
  • Plans and supervises commissioning.
  • Is responsible for project documentation and obtaining provisional and final acceptance certificates.
  • Prepares and provides project reports to senior management/direct supervisor.

Safety

  • Ensures compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Anticipates safety issues and takes corrective action.
  • Reports any violations to management.

Quality

  • The Project Manager is responsible for the quality of installations as specified in the contract.

Productivity

  • Follows internal BPMS (Boccard Project Management System) procedures and established best practices to deliver projects safely, on time, according to specifications and within budget.

Required Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent OR relevant experience.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of proven project management experience or
  • 5 years of experience as a Process Engineer.

Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of food and/or cosmetics and/or pharmaceutical processes.
  • Understanding of P&IDs, isometrics, layouts, 3D drawings and functional descriptions.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and other data-entry software.
  • Ability to foster cooperation and engagement within a team to achieve objectives and deliverables.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

This position requires standing and walking regularly.
