Arhaus is seeking a Senior Art Director, Experience Design to join our Creative team. This role will play a key role in setting the creative vision and execution of Arhaus.com and digital customer experiences, translating brand storytelling into high-performing, user-centered ecommerce journeys.

The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of elevated visual design, strategic thinking, and deep understanding of user experience. They will partner closely with Ecommerce, Marketing, and CRM teams to create seamless, inspiring, and conversion-driven digital experiences across the customer journey.

As a Senior Art Director, Experience Design, you will lead concepting and execution across web and digital channels, while mentoring designers and driving innovation in how we show up across our digital ecosystem.


Key Responsibilities

Web Creative Leadership

  • Lead the creative direction and execution of Arhaus.com, including homepage, landing pages, and ongoing site content
  • Own and evolve the visual and experiential standards of the ecommerce experience, ensuring alignment with brand and business goals
  • Translate brand storytelling into scalable, modular digital experiences that drive engagement and conversion
  • Partner with Ecommerce and Marketing teams to continuously improve the online customer experience and identify opportunities for optimization
  • Familiarity with Shopify and a foundational understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS) to inform design decisions and collaborate effectively with development partners

UX / Customer Experience & Digital Innovation

  • Apply user-centered design principles to create intuitive, engaging, and effective customer journeys across web and digital channels
  • Develop wireframes, user flows, and prototypes to support new initiatives and site enhancements
  • Leverage data, testing, and customer insights to inform creative decisions and improve performance
  • Contribute to testing strategies (A/B testing, layout exploration, CTA optimization, etc.) in partnership with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated interest in leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance creative processes, improve efficiency, and elevate digital customer experiences
  • Proactive mindset toward continuous learning, with a strong awareness of evolving design trends, digital best practices, and emerging tools shaping the future of ecommerce and user experience

Cross-Channel Digital Integration

  • Extend UX and customer journey thinking into additional digital channels, including email and lifecycle marketing
  • Partner with marketing teams to design customer-centric email experiences, with a focus on lifecycle flows and personalization
  • Ensure consistency and cohesion across all digital touchpoints

Creative Direction & Execution

  • Lead and manage creative projects from concept through execution, ensuring high-quality deliverables that elevate the brand and drive results
  • Collaborate with copywriters and marketing partners to develop compelling, insight-driven creative concepts
  • Translate strategic insights into innovative, effective creative solutions across digital channels
  • Maintain accountability for the overall quality, consistency, and effectiveness of creative work

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor and guide designers, fostering growth in both visual design and user experience thinking
  • Lead design reviews and present work to stakeholders across Creative, Ecommerce, and Marketing teams
  • Partner cross-functionally to align on priorities, timelines, and business objectives
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment

Experience & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Advertising, Communications, Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 7+ years of experience in Art Direction, Digital Design, or related field

Creative & Design Expertise

  • Exceptional visual design and art direction skills, with a portfolio demonstrating high-end digital and ecommerce work
  • Strong understanding of design principles including typography, color, layout, and composition
  • Proven ability to balance brand storytelling with performance-driven design

UX / UI & Digital Expertise

  • Strong understanding of user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles
  • Experience creating wireframes, user flows, and prototypes for digital experiences
  • Experience designing for ecommerce, with an understanding of conversion-focused design
  • Familiarity with user-centered design methodologies, information architecture, and usability best practices

Tools & Technical Knowledge

  • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite; experience with Figma or similar UX/UI tools preferred
  • Working knowledge of CMS platforms (Shopify Plus preferred)
  • Understanding of front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) to inform design decisions
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and guiding designers
  • Ability to function as both a strategic leader and hands-on contributor
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including Creative, Ecommerce & Marketing
