Compass is seeking a full-time employee to join our Corporate Development Team onsite at our Dallas HQ or Toronto HQ office.
Job Overview:
The Project Manager oversees all cross-functional projects that are deemed critical to the business. Cross-functional projects would have a Functional Steward while multiple other functions work together to deliver project scope and objective. Types of cross-functional projects would vary in type; the various functions that can be involved are Design, Delivery, Land Acquisition, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, etc. There will be ongoing number of Land Acquisition projects running in parallel with other cross-functional projects. Land Acquisition projects are consistent in terms of scope and due diligence work, unlike the other types of cross-functional projects that will vary and need creativity and vision from the project manager on successful delivery and management of various team members. In regards to Land Acquisition, the elements will include site selection, due diligence planning, initial test-fit and preliminary design work, preliminary project schedule creation, risk assessments and sales support. The key focus of Land Acquisition projects is to ensure that sales have all the required information to support customer projects, and that Compass can successfully execute on the projects post hand-off. Reporting directly to the Director of Program and Project Management, s/he will work with cross-functional teams to maintain and monitor all aspects of the Compass projects. The PM will also be tasked with developing vendor relationships in order to negotiate pricing and deliverable timelines and speak with customers regarding the status of the project, while assisting with the management and the creation of contracts with vendors and individual consultants using standard statements of work and contract conditions. The PM will have a continuously improved Program to follow, and in turn, be a key player in continuously developing said Program. In addition to utilizing existing tools to successfully manage and run their projects, in addition to creating new tools based on established needs.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Plan, coordinate and/or supervise activities of all personnel on assigned project(s) and consistently monitor project progress with available tools.
  • Coordinate and track all change requests from the team and project members.
  • Maintain communication internally on project progress.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
  • Conduct regular meetings with local staff to transfer knowledge and improve the ability of local teams to assist with future projects.
  • Manage and report on related budgets.
  • Lead or assist with complex bid proposals related to new business development.
  • Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project.
  • Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable.
  • Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution.
  • Chair and facilitate meetings where appropriate and distribute minutes to all project team members.
  • Create a project management calendar for fulfilling each goal and objective.
  • Assisting with Procurement and the associated financial work.
  • Also includes working with vendors, managing the relationship with vendors.
  • Compiling weekly, monthly tracking and reporting of all statistical data pertinent to the role and the overall departmental objectives.
  • Interface and communicate with both external customers/vendors and internal customers in a professional and expedient manner.

Additional Responsibilities:
โ€ข Support the design and delivery teams as required post handoff of PMO Land Acquisition projects.
โ€ข Preparation, including documentation of functional process and procedures as required.
โ€ข Manage, lead and assist on all Compass projects assigned to the PMO, such as projects required by the Land Acquisition team, or any other cross-functional projects that can sit within the Stewardship of any of the Compass functions (finance, design, delivery, operations, sales, etc.).
