Project Manager Pipeline information

What is a project manager pipeline?

Project Manager Pipeline roles refer to professionals responsible for overseeing and coordinating projects related to pipeline construction, maintenance, or operations in industries such as oil, gas, or water. They manage project timelines, budgets, resources, and stakeholder communications to ensure successful project delivery. These project managers must also ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards throughout the project lifecycle. Their work often involves collaborating with engineers, contractors, and regulatory authorities to achieve project goals.

How does a project manager pipeline typically collaborate with engineering and operations teams during a project lifecycle?

A Project Manager Pipeline works closely with both engineering and operations teams to ensure that pipeline projects are executed efficiently and meet all safety and regulatory requirements. They facilitate regular meetings to align project milestones, resolve technical issues, and balance resource allocation. Effective communication is essential, as the Project Manager must translate project goals into actionable tasks while addressing concerns from various stakeholders. This role also often involves coordinating site visits, reviewing progress reports, and adapting plans as challenges arise to keep the project on track.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a project manager pipeline, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Manager Pipeline, you need expertise in project management methodologies, pipeline construction processes, and a relevant engineering or technical degree. Familiarity with project management software (such as MS Project or Primavera), pipeline design tools, and certifications like PMP are typically required. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills help you coordinate diverse teams and manage project challenges. These skills are crucial for ensuring pipeline projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget while meeting all regulatory and technical standards.

Job description

Project Manager

Company:Discount Marketing Products

Location:Marietta / Atlanta, GA area (onsite)

Type:Full-time, exempt, mid-level

Reports to:Dalan Cohen, Chief Executive Officer

About the role

Discount Marketing Products is a growth-stage wholesale distribution company. As the business scales, several important initiatives have been prioritized and the people who would normally run them are already fully loaded with revenue-generating work.

We are hiring a dedicated Project Manager whose entire job is to drive our key projects to completion, on time, by coordinating internal resources and holding outside vendors accountable. This is not a seat that absorbs overflow from other teams. It sits separate from day-to-day operations, and it is measured on one thing above all: whether projects finish, on the timeline everyone agreed to.

What you will own

  • Drive multiple concurrent strategic projects from kickoff to completion, keeping each one on schedule and moving.
  • Manage outsourced execution. When we engage a vendor, for example a website development firm, you make sure they deliver against scope, timeline, and quality. You do not have to do the hands-on build yourself, but you own the outcome.
  • Coordinate internal subject matter resources without pulling revenue-generating staff off their core jobs.
  • Identify support needs and bring in contract help where it makes sense, for example data entry or data cleanup ahead of a system migration, rather than adding load to full-time staff.
  • Provide clear, regular status updates, surface risks early, and keep leadership informed.
  • Make the resourcing calls that keep projects moving.

Current project portfolio

You would step into an active set of initiatives that currently includes:

  • Implementation of Essent, the company's new operating and ERP system.
  • Launch of a new LED product line.
  • Rebuild of the company website.

More projects, including new product categories, are already in the pipeline, so this is an ongoing function rather than a fixed set of tasks.

What success looks like

Success in this role is execution. In the first three to six months, that means the Essent implementation is on track and adopted, the LED line is launched, and the new website is on track for its overhaul, each finished on an agreed timeline.

What we are looking for

  • A proven track record managing several projects at once and getting them across the finish line on time.
  • Experience managing external vendors and outsourced delivery, holding them accountable to scope and timeline.
  • Strong organization and coordination skills. You are comfortable being the person who makes sure things get done.
  • The ability to work across teams and move work forward without direct authority over the people doing it.
  • Roughly 3 to 5 years of project management experience.
  • Experience with multiple project management styles and mechanisms.
  • Experience in wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or another operations-heavy environment a plus.
  • The capacity to grow with the company as it scales, not just the skills to do the job on day one.

Reporting and structure

This role reports to the Chief Executive Officer. Internal project resources, such as the LED and website resource, would report to this role for the life of their projects. As the project function matures, the role may fold into the Operations team.

Logistics

  • Full-time, exempt, onsite in the Marietta / Atlanta, GA area.
  • Full benefits, effective on day one.
