Job Summary

The Senior Project Manager Gas Operations position is responsible and accountable for implementing high profile, major, and moderately complex construction and engineering projects related to natural gas transmission and distribution. Areas of responsibility include project planning, execution, controls and close out for the management of engineering, procurement, construction, and ultimately functional operation of Peopleโ€™s Gas facilities. Responsible for management and leadership of a diverse group of team members involved in gas distribution and transmission design, construction and restoration activities. This position will require utilizing knowledge of gas operations and construction processes to meet project budgets, schedules, safety objective and compliance with local, state and federal regulations. Obtains and manages adequate resources including union, non-union, consultants and contractors to meet all project objectives in the most efficient and effective manner. Coach and mentor other Project Managers and support staff. This role requires the ability to influence team members without positional authority. Senior Project Manager has expertise, leadership, and management skills which the corporation requires and utilizes on a continuous basis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Manage moderately complex or major construction projects inclusive of project integration management, scope management, time management, cost management, quality management, human resource management, communications management, risk management and procurement management, complying with legal requirements, construction management and financial accountability.
  • Provides on-site review and direction to ensure all project objectives are met.
  • Coordinate procure effort with team members and other departments for engineering services, materials, equipment, and installation contracts.
  • Collaborate and communicate with the stakeholders on project objectives. Report project schedule, cost and performance status to company personnel, and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Coordinate design engineering effort, preparation of specifications and construction documents.
  • Coach and mentor other project managers and project support staff on project management skills and activities.
  • Develop, prepare and implement procedures for effective control of project activities.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3+ years of experience with Federal, State, and Local Codes and Regulatory Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience interfacing with operations in a service center, industrial plant, manufacturing plant or power plant
  • 5+ years of experience in a formal or informal leadership role
  • 7+ years of experience with construction contracts and commercial terms, status reporting, procurement practices, industry standards, industrial business, engineering knowledge, construction safety
  • 7+ years of experience with project management of construction or capital equipment projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business Administration, or related degree
  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related advanced technical degree
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license or related, Construction Management, Project Management, Risk Management certifications
  • Experience in managing multiple projects simultaneously

Pay Range Minimum:  $119,696.20 

Pay Range Maximum:  $194,506.26 

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs.  At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
