Job description

Responsibilities

Related Midwest, through its vertically integrated general contracting entity, LR Contracting, is seeking an experienced construction professional to manage key aspects of construction project delivery for large complex projects or portfolios of smaller projects, including new construction as well as rehabilitation and preservation work.

A Project Manager is expected to demonstrate solid knowledge of the construction process – including preconstruction coordination, planning, estimating, scheduling, logistics, cost control, and reporting, contract administration, safety and construction operations – and to help lead the successful execution of projects in coordination with senior project leadership.

The role requires strong organizational and communication skills with a proven ability to collaborate effectively with project and field operations teams, preconstruction staff, consultants, and other project stakeholders while contributing to a respectful, collaborative, and high-performing team culture.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Lead construction projects or multiple major project scopes from preconstruction through closeout, ensuring alignment with project objectives related to cost, schedule, quality, safety, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Direct coordination between owners, consultants, subcontractors, field leadership, and internal stakeholders to drive effective project execution issue resolution, and alignment of project staffing and operational resources.
  • Lead procurement, subcontractor buyout, and contract administration processes, including negotiations, scope alignment, and strategic procurement decisions.
  • Establish and maintain project controls and administrative procedures to ensure accurate documentation, reporting, and change management across project teams.
  • Manage project financial performance, including forecasting, contingency management, cost reporting, pay applications, and change negotiations.
  • Drive proactive identification and resolution of project risks, operational challenges, constructability concerns, and schedule impacts.
  • Oversee project scheduling coordination efforts, integrating procurement, logistics, sequencing, and operational milestones into overall execution strategies.
  • Facilitate meetings with senior project stakeholders, providing clear communication regarding project performance, risks, financial impacts, and resolution strategies.
  • Oversee implementation of quality management procedures and collaborate with field leadership to maintain project standards and execution quality.
  • Direct project closeout activities, ensuring successful turnover, documentation completion, warranty management, and owner transition processes.
  • Ensure compliance with project requirements related to local business participation, workforce development, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Mentor and support development of project team members by fostering accountability, collaboration, professional growth, and knowledge-sharing.
  • Contribute to strategic special projects as requested.
  • Promote a strong culture of jobsite safety and operational excellence through active engagement with field leadership and project teams.
  • Pursue continued professional development through leadership training, industry education and engagement with organizations that align with the company’s goals, values and commitment to the communities we serve.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or equivalent trade experience.
  • 5-12 years of construction experience required.
  • Demonstrated success leading all phases of delivery, including estimating, scheduling, logistics planning, subcontractor procurement, cost control, financial reporting, contract administration and construction operations.
  • Advance understanding of construction contracts and subcontract administration, including
  • preparation and negotiation of subcontracts, review of pay applications, and management of
  • change orders and claims.
  • Experience developing and managing project budgets, schedules, procurement strategies, and quality control.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities with experience developing team members.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with owners, subcontractors, vendors, community members and other project stakeholders.
  • Proficient in Procore, Building Connected, Plan Grid, Textura, eBuilder, Microsoft Suite or similar platforms strongly preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour certification, First Aid/CPR and Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) certification preferred.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is listed below. In addition to a competitive base salary, you will be eligible to receive discretionary bonus incentives and a comprehensive benefits package.

Anticipated base salary range: $100,000 - $150,000

Actual base salary within the anticipated range will be determined by several components including, but not limited to, the individual's experience, skills, qualifications, and market factors.
