Job description

Are you a people-centered leader who believes strong teams build strong businesses? Terracon is seeking an Operations Manager for our Seattle, Washington office-an opportunity to lead a growing A/E/C consulting team in one of the Pacific Northwest's most dynamic markets. In this role, you will help strengthen our Best at People culture by building an inclusive, caring, high-performing team; mentoring and developing leaders; and creating an environment where employee-owners can do their best work.
As Operations Manager, you will lead a large, growing office of more than 110 employee-owners across geotechnical, environmental, and construction materials testing/special inspection services. You will be responsible for safe, profitable growth by translating regional strategy into local execution-partnering with local leaders to develop business plans, expand services, strengthen client relationships, and ensure operational excellence. Working closely with experienced technical and administrative leaders, you will help shape the future of the Seattle operation while supporting Terracon's employee-owned culture and long-term success.
If you are you interested in belonging to a 100% employee-owned organization where decisions are made based on the best interest of our clients and employees instead of outside interests, Terracon is your kind of company! Come, and explore with us!

Our Corporate Services team, based at Terracon's Olathe, Kansas headquarters, supports our 180+ offices nationwide. We partner with our offices' employees and clients to provide innovative solutions, built on a foundation of excellent client experience and employee ownership. Our Corporate Services comprise expert teams in Accounting and Finance, Executive Services, Information Technology, Legal, Marketing and Communications, People, Procurement, and Safety, working side-by-side with our offices to help meet their needs and meet our clients' goals.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years' practice experience.  Or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 12 years' related experience.
  • Prior A/E/C management experience is preferred.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certification:

  • Certification or licensure in field of expertise.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Puget Sound area, including two offices in the northern Seattle metro area and a satellite location in Tacoma, supporting more than 110 employee-owners across geotechnical, environmental, construction testing/special inspection, and administrative teams.

  • Translate Terracon's Vision and Strategic Plan into local business priorities, clear goals, and disciplined execution.

  • Develop and execute the annual office business plan, with accountability for safe, profitable growth, client development, and operational excellence.

  • Champion Terracon's Best at People culture by fostering an inclusive, caring, high-performing workplace where employee-owners feel supported, valued, and empowered to grow.

  • Mentor and develop current and emerging leaders, while ensuring supervisors actively coach, support, and grow their teams.

  • Partner with department managers and technical leaders to align staffing, workload, and expertise with project needs, growth opportunities, and client commitments.
