Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Interior Designer/ Interior Architect to join our team. This role is ideal for a design professional with a strong track record of leading interior design efforts on large, complex projects within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment. The successful candidate will bring strong design leadership and interior design skills,  technical expertise, and the ability to engage confidently with clients and project teams.

This position offers the opportunity to work across a diverse range of market sectors, including workplace, higher education, K12, civic/cultural, multi-family, and sports/recreation projects.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead and drive the development of interior design projects across all phases, from programming and concept through construction administration
  • Collaborate with Project Architects, Project Managers, and multidisciplinary team members to coordinate integrated interior and architectural design solutions
  • Contribute to and support interior design efforts across multiple projects and all project phases
  • Support or lead key components of the design process, including space planning, finish development, and FF&E selection, visualization, specifications, and documentation
  • Develop and prepare high-quality design documentation and deliverables, including drawings, schedules, specifications, renderings, and presentation materials
  • Develop and complete full contract document sets, including floor plans, reflected ceiling plans (RCP), elevations, finish plansmillwork drawings, details, and schedules
  • Coordinate with consultants, including architectural, lighting, landscape, structural, MEP, AV, and IT disciplines
  • Ensure continuity and consistency of design deliverables while meeting project schedules, budgets, and deadlines
  • Participate in design discussions, internal critiques, and client meetings related to design scope and direction
  • Participate in client presentations and effectively communicate design concepts and solutions
  • Create graphics and presentation materials, including conceptual renderings and diagrammatic studies
  • Lead and participate in design charrettes and collaborative ideation sessions to elevate design quality throughout the process
  • Incorporate integrated sustainable design strategies into projects
  • Assist in construction administration, including responding to RFIs, approving submittals, preparing sketches and addenda, conducting site visits, and developing punch lists

Qualifications 

  • 10+ years of professional interior design experience, preferably within a large architectural or multidisciplinary firm
  • NCIDQ Certification required
  • Architecture registration is also considered in place of NCIDQ
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field
  • Demonstrated experience leading interior design for large, complex projects
  • Strong proficiency in: Revit, Enscape, Bluebeam, and Adobe InDesign
  • Strong design, communication, and presentation skills with client-facing experience
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Preferred Qualifications 

  • LEED and/or WELL Accreditation
  • Experience in the workplace, higher education, K12, civic/cultural, sports & recreation, and/or professional sports projects
  • Experience with integrated sustainable design strategies

Additional Information 

  • Hybrid work schedule with a minimum of 3 days per week in the Columbus, OH office (or other Moody Nolan office if approved) 
  • Must be willing and able to travel as needed to support firmwide project priorities
