Expected Outcomes and Requirements:
Gateway is hiring a Field Engineer to assist in building and maintaining our network expansion efforts in support of Gateway's growth trajectory of adding 100,000 residential & business passings per year. The Field Engineer is expected to contribute in the following significant ways:
- Manage all physical connectivity of equipment in Central Offices and Active Cabinets.
- Complete installation of server racks and cabinets.
- Install optical transceivers and fiber optic jumpers.
- Work cross-functionally to determine connectivity requirements for different departments.
- Complete equipment racking and grounding to design specifications.
- Perform cable continuity testing and troubleshoot any issues.
- Perform equipment and hardware testing and turn-up and verify appropriate status.
- Install, add, and remove batteries per design specifications and life cycle needs.
- Provide knowledge and input regarding network engineering and design capabilities.

The successful candidate will bring the following to the table:
- 10+ Years of Field Engineer experience.
- 3+ Years of Telecom Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Complex problem-solving skills.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
- Strong follow-up skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service skills, including positive phone demeanor.
- Proficiency (MS Office-Word, Excel, Outlook).
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit for varying lengths of time throughout a day, with or without reasonable accommodation.
