Shimmick is seeking a Project Manager in Glendale, California. You will initially support the North Hollywood to Pasadena Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project, a progressive 19-mile transit corridor connecting North Hollywood, Burbank, Glendale, Eagle Rock, and Pasadena. Featuring 22 new stations, the BRT line is designed to provide faster and more reliable transit options, reduce traffic congestion, and improve air quality by utilizing zero-emission electric buses.

Southwest Division

Shimmick’s Southwest Division, headquartered in Irvine, California, focuses on large public owners in Southern California, across water resources, water treatment, transportation, and transit markets. Over the past decade, the division has grown tremendously, securing major projects, including the $828 million Gerald Desmond Bridge, the first cable-stayed vehicular bridge in California.


The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Managing project implementation including schedule, budgets, quality and safety.
  • Resource planning and management - including managing company resources assigned to the project as well as third party vendors, designers, fabricators and contractors.
  • Direct the efforts of the full engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction management, and commissioning team in creating the execution plans, organization, and contracts needed to deliver the project within the stated cost and schedule.
  • Continue to build a positive relationship with highly important & strategic clients who have significant future work in the area.
  • Preparing and issuing Progress Reports and ensuring timely payments.
  • Monitoring compliance with various regulatory statues as well as compliance with applicable Shimmick policies and procedures.
  • Project stakeholder management and interface.
  • Creation and implementation of Project Updates – Job Status Reports and Quarterly EAC Reports.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field and 6+ years of relevant expereince or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Previous construction experience related to managing large heavy civil construction projects, ideally transportation infrastructure projects (roadway, street improvement, earthworks, bridge structures, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and risk mitigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years' experience involving heavy civil construction projects.
  • Knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office Suite and Primavera P6.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skill.
  • Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize competing demands in deadline-driven environment.

The salary range for this position is between $160,000- $200,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
