What is a project information manager?

A Project Information Manager (PIM) is a professional responsible for overseeing the collection, organization, and distribution of information and data across a project. They ensure that all stakeholders have access to accurate and up-to-date project documentation, often utilizing digital tools such as Building Information Modeling (BIM) systems. PIMs play a crucial role in collaboration, compliance, and information security throughout a project's lifecycle. Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) platforms, Common Data Environment (CDE) systems, and related certifications like BIM Level 2 or ISO 19650 is typical. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills help ensure data integrity and effective collaboration among project stakeholders. These competencies are crucial for maintaining accurate project information, streamlining workflows, and supporting project delivery success.
