The successful will safely execute capital projects efficiently and ensure that agreed upon delivery is on target (time, budget, scope). Lead and develop team of project management professionals to drive a culture of continuous improvement, fundamental project management, and best in class cost management. Ensure all programs, personal actions and approaches support Nevada Gold Mines goals for safety and sustainability. Act as a safety champion and constantly apply the principals and spirit of Courageous Safety Leadership and Courage to Care.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the evaluation and prioritization of projects under consideration (major capital investments)
  • Evaluate trade-offs
  • Work with finance to assess and quantify value
  • Align process with corporate capital spend evaluation criteria
  • Communicate prioritization and manage backlog
  • Oversees AFE process and acts as internal quality control hurdle
  • Works site Executive Managing Director, Operating General Managers, CFO, Department Heads, Finance, Geology and MRM
  • Responsible for delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget
  • Manages contractor selection process
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements to project throughout the course of delivery (e.g. drives design improvement opportunities throughout course of project)
  • Interacts closely with supply chain to ensure timely availability of project materials (and appropriate costs are realized)
  • Identifies, mitigates, monitors, and responds to risks related to project execution
  • Reports progress to the project sponsor(s) as required
  • Proactively monitors interdependencies with other projects, i.e., inputs from, and outputs to other projects
  • Communicate regularly to all stakeholders, ensuring transparency and auditability
  • Ensures appropriate capital stewardship by tracking, and managing spend according to plan
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering field (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering Management, etc..) Project Management Professional, Professional Engineer Certificate
  • 10 to 15 year's experience in progressive project management
  • Large capital project management experience
  • Strong technical knowledge of project management techniques
  • Experience negotiating with, and managing contractors
  • Experience and understanding of engineering design and quality control
  • Understanding of financial modeling, and impact of projects on overall business
  • Governance and risk management experience
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems, Capital and Project Management systems preferred
  • Understanding of and adherence of environmental permitting process and obligations of existing permits
  • Excellent data and business analysis skills - ability to conduct detailed analysis, define KPIs, provide business logic and calculations, meet reporting requirements, etc
