Job description

At ICF, we work on projects that have a real impact - from resilient infrastructure to public health to national security. Our Finance & Accounting team is the backbone of financial stewardship that keeps ICF's mission-driven work moving forward.
We are hiring a Seasonal Associate to join our Corporate Finance & Accounting group for a 10-week program beginning in June 2026. This is a cross-functional rotation providing meaningful hands-on exposure across three core groups General Accounting, Financial Operations & Transformation, and Financial Planning & Analysis.
This is a seasonal, on-call role that is expected to begin working in June 2026 and will provide, on average, 32 hours per week for a 10-week period from start date. Work is hybrid from our Reston, VA headquarters, and pay is anticipated to be no more than $28 per hour.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
General Accounting
  • Assist with journal entry preparation and month-end close activities under the guidance of senior accountants
  • Support account reconciliations and review of balance sheet items for accuracy and completeness
  • Help ensure proper accounting treatment is applied to transactions in accordance with GAAP

Data Cleansing & Documentation Support
  • Identify, clean, and validate financial data in accounting systems and spreadsheets to improve data integrity
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, desktop procedures, and workflow guides for the Finance & Accounting team
  • Assist with filing, archiving, and organizing financial records in compliance with internal controls

Financial Analysis & Document Preparation
  • Conduct ad-hoc financial analysis using Excel and other tools to support management decision-making
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports, budget variance analyses, and forecast materials
  • Compile and format presentation materials, board packages, and financial summaries for senior leadership

AI Discovery in Existing Processes
  • Evaluate current Finance & Accounting workflows to identify opportunities where AI and automation tools could improve efficiency
  • Research and benchmark emerging AI applications relevant to financial operations and document findings in a structured report
  • Collaborate with the Financial Operations & Transformation team to prototype or pilot lightweight AI-assisted process improvements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
  • Completed bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, or other related business discipline

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Master's degree in progress
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic modeling); familiarity with PowerPoint and Word
  • Exposure to or experience with ERP or accounting software (e.g., Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, QuickBooks) is a plus
  • Demonstrated coursework or academic interest in accounting, financial analysis, or corporate finance
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical mindset with a curiosity for how financial data supports strategic decisions
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Genuine interest in process improvement, technology, and the application of AI to business operations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to synthesize information and present it clearly
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools such as Power BI is a plus but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across functions and levels of the organization
  • High ethical standards with a strong sense of integrity and confidentiality when handling financial information
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to learn, particularly in areas of financial technology and AI tools

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
The pay range for this position based on full-time employment is:
$45,805.00 - $77,869.00
