Job description

This Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for an Alternative Delivery Senior Project Manager (ADSPM) to support our growing team. This position may be based in any WSP office, with a primary location focused in Utah and the Mountain Region.

At WSP, you will help lead the delivery of complex alternative delivery projects from teaming and procurement through execution and closeout. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, oversee project controls related to scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk, and support disciplined execution aligned with WSP's alternative delivery standards. Working closely with senior leadership, contractor and concessionaire partners, clients, and internal teams, you will help drive strong project outcomes, build trusted relationships, and strengthen WSP's position in the alternative delivery market.  From a strategic market perspective, you will also support regional business development and account management through contractor relationship management, opportunity development, and pipeline planning.

Your Impact

The ADSPM leads complex alternative delivery projects from teaming and procurement through execution and closeout. In partnership with regional leadership, Alternative Delivery team, and project teams, the ADSPM shapes delivery strategy, leads pre-award and post-award activities, and drives performance against scope, schedule, quality, and financial objectives. This role also reinforces consistent delivery practices and strengthens client and partner relationships.

Beyond the focused project delivery work, the ADSPM also supports regional business development and account management by maintaining contractor relationships, identifying opportunities, coordinating follow-through with local and regional leadership, and contributing to regional pipeline planning. The ADSPM may also provide executive oversight on behalf of the region on smaller alternative delivery opportunities.

Job Duties:

  • Manage an alternative delivery project through teaming, pre-award, post-award, and closeout, with responsibility for coordination, scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk.
  • Support business development and capture activities, including teaming coordination, pursuit planning, proposal and fee development, scope definition, procurement responses, and interview preparation.
  • Serve as a senior point of coordination for contractor clients, subconsultants, and internal teams, promoting clear communication, timely decision-making, executive alignment, and strong working relationships on alternative delivery projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor project management plans, work plans, schedules, budgets, and risk registers, implementing corrective actions as needed to support performance.
  • Lead multidisciplinary technical teams and delivery reviews to ensure alignment with project requirements, contractual obligations, commercial objectives, and quality expectations.
  • Lead project phase transitions and closeout activities to maintain continuity, documentation quality, and alignment with business and client objectives.
  • Lead lessons learned and after-action reviews, and contribute to the improvement of alternative delivery tools, templates, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Participate in relevant industry organizations and events related to alternative delivery and support strategic initiatives as directed by leadership.
  • Adhere to all internal processes, ethical standards, and company policies, and perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is a seasoned project leader with extensive experience delivering alternative delivery projects in a lead designer role. You bring demonstrated success across key phases of design-build, progressive design-build, and/or P3 delivery and are confident leading multidisciplinary teams, managing project controls, and partnering effectively with contractors, concessionaires, clients, and internal leadership. You combine strong execution discipline with executive-level communication, sound judgment, and the ability to advance project performance from procurement through closeout. You also bring the relationship management and market awareness needed to support business development and account management, including contractor engagement, early opportunity identification, and contribution to regional pipeline planning.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration required.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience managing alternative delivery projects.
  • Demonstrated success leading pre-award and post-award project execution.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with clients, partners, senior leadership, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to support business development and account management through contractor relationship management, early opportunity identification, and alternative delivery pipeline coordination.
  • Strong command of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of design-build, progressive design-build, and/or P3 delivery models.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project collaboration tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, quality, and compliance standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting alternative delivery pursuits throughout the US, as well as in Utah.
  • Established relationships with contractors, concessionaires, and public-sector clients in the alternative delivery market.
  • Experience contributing to capture strategy, procurement responses, and interview preparation.
