Job description

ARB Industrial is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support the execution of EPC power generation and energy storage projects across its portfolio. This is a key project leadership role reporting directly to the Project Manager and serving as the primary engineering interface between internal teams and external stakeholders.

The Senior Project Engineer will be based out of ARB’s Irvine, California office and will travel to active project sites as needed. This role is responsible for coordinating and managing all engineering-related activities from detailed design through construction and commissioning. The position ensures engineering deliverables align with contractual requirements, construction sequencing, and project milestones, while supporting ARB’s safety, quality, and execution standards. The role includes oversight of field engineers and document control personnel and plays a critical role in facilitating constructability reviews, design optimization, and change management throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as ARB’s engineering representative with engineering subcontractors, owners, owner’s engineers, construction teams, vendors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinate engineering activities from design development through construction and commissioning across multiple project sites.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet contractual requirements, schedule commitments, and client expectations.
  • Participate in project kick-off meetings, design reviews, progress meetings, and technical workshops.
  • Maintain consistent communication with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely issue resolution.
  • Facilitate constructability reviews and design optimization discussions to support efficient field execution.
  • Take ownership of all engineering-related project matters to support overall project objectives and milestones.
  • Manage project document control systems, including RFIs, submittals, drawings, specifications, and engineering change documentation, in accordance with company standards.
  • Train, supervise, and support document control staff to ensure timely and accurate document flow.
  • Review engineering documents for constructability, completeness, and compliance with industry codes and standards.
  • Manage and mentor field engineers supporting construction activities.
  • Coordinate engineering support for construction sequencing, installation issues, and technical clarifications.
  • Support commissioning activities by ensuring engineering documentation is complete and aligned with as-built conditions.
  • Support project change management efforts, including scope definition, technical input, and estimating support.
  • Assist in evaluating design changes, RFIs, and field impacts related to scope growth or modifications.
  • Promote and support ARB’s safety culture and ensure engineering decisions align with safe work practices.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables meet quality standards, good engineering practice, and applicable codes and regulations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited four-year university.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of EPC project experience, preferably in power generation, renewables, or energy storage projects.
  • Prior experience supporting large, complex EPC projects from engineering through construction.
  • BESS experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of document control systems, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and 3D model review software.
  • Working knowledge of Primavera P6 schedules and the ability to review engineering impacts to schedule.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and quality.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to active project sites as required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $125,000 – $160,000 annually
