We are seeking a Project Engineer with 5- 10 years of professional experience to be part of our Transportation team in our Raleigh, NC office.

In this position you will support the technical designs of transportation projects for clients such as NCDOT and municipalities.  A background in NCDOT roadway design engineering using Bentley OpenRoads (ORD) is preferred as well as understanding of and coordination with multiple other disciplines including roadway drainage, structures, traffic management plans, and surveys to name a few. 

WGI provides training and mentoring for this position such as ORD training from WGI's ORD experts and from local training events. Also, WGI's significant enhancement for this role is the continuous training for career advancement as a Project Manager. 

The candidate will work in a fast-paced engineering environment where projects may be derived from many delivery methods including conventional bid projects and alternative delivery for NCDOT and other agencies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform engineering designs, including geometric alignments, superelevation, profiles, models, cross sections, incorporation of roadway drainage,  and stage construction for traffic management plans (as required);
  • Perform and develop NCDOT Feasibility Study planning projects;
  • Perform the assembly of Plans, Specifications, & Estimate (PS&E) packages for NCDOT Central and Division Let projects;
  • Utilize Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD) to develop Roadway Project deliverables;
  • Collaborate and coordinate with other transportation team members developing plans, calculations and specifications;
  • Assist in performing internal Quality Control to ensure designs, plans and calculations are complete and accurate;
  • Organizing and coordinating a variety of project administrative duties including client communication and maintaining the project's financial progress;
  • Be receptive to learning roadway drainage design (trained by Hydraulic Engineer) concurrently with the roadway design development;
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year college;
  • Demonstrated 5 to 10 years in progressively responsible experience;
  • NC Professional Engineering Registration or desire to obtain registration within a year from employment;
  • Roadway Design experience preferred:
    • Proficiency in Bentley OpenRoads Designer (ORD);
    • Knowledge of NCDOT Roadway Design Manual, roadway plan preparation and roadway design standard drawings;\
    • Knowledge of other transportation disciplines and their relationship to roadway design;
    • Strong work ethic and ability to organize and manage project related tasks;
    • Microsoft office skills - including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
    • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing skills;
