About This Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join our team in the development of electronic controls for a space-grade weapons program. The successful candidate will be responsible for all technical aspects of the project, ensuring the integration of technical efforts across Cognizant Engineers and supporting organizations. This role also includes schedule planning, Cost-Account Management, and the supervision of multi-disciplined direct reports. This position requires strong technical leadership, financial oversight, organizational skills, and a commitment to excellence in engineering.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the technical aspects of the project, ensuring alignment with program goals and engineering standards.
  • Ensure the integrity and performance of aerostructure and/or electronic control box packaging through rigorous testing and validation processes.
  • Drive the execution of engineering processes, including design, development, prototyping, and testing.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and reliability.
  • Plan and allocate engineering resources effectively to meet project milestones and deliverables.
  • Coordinate efforts across Cognizant Engineers and supporting organizations to ensure seamless technical integration within the project.
  • Oversee the project budget, manage costs, and ensure that the project remains within financial constraints. Track and report on financial performance and implement cost-saving measures as needed.
  • Supervise a team of multi-disciplined direct reports, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with 10+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in project engineering, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Proven experience in developing aerostructure design, structural or thermal analysis, and/or electronics packaging, with a focus on space-grade hardware.
  • Experience with Cost-Account Management and budget oversight.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, design processes, and testing methodologies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Active Secret clearance preferred; Secret eligibility required.
