Renewables Project Engineer, C&I Solar
Northeast TriState Area - HYBRID Work Schedule
A Private Equity Firm that has invested over $1B into the renewable energy transition across the United States is seeking to grow their organization with the addition of a Project Engineer. Their goal is to acquire late stage projects and facilitate development from NTP/Pre-NTP through to COD. They also monitor the success of assets during O&M phases as part of the operating portfolio. Other key clean energy investments that they are involved in include infrastructure for electric vehicles and utility-scale battery storage.
The role will be tasked with managing multiple projects concurrently to drive late stage project development and engineering/EPC initiatives pertaining to pre-construction, engineering design, project finance, contract agreement reviews, permitting, PPA, and transmission interconnection processes. It will also play a key role in monitoring the success of the asset through the O&M team post COD.
An ideal candidate needs to be based in the Northeast Tri-State Area and have significant experience dealing with the Electrical Utilities / Municipalities in the region. Exposure to RTOs/ISOs like NYISO & ISO-NE are a HUGE plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Solar Project Engineer - Drives the construction and management of C&I solar projects to ensure installation in accordance with contract specification and design drawings
  • Solar Project Engineer - Plays essential role in areas of Pre NTP development, EPC hand off, and technical O&M support
  • Solar Project Engineer - Prepares engineering scope of work, RFP, cost estimates, and bid packages for C&I Solar PV, Ground mount, Carport, and utility scale projects
  • Solar Project Engineer - Review EPC Contracts, equipment specifications, warranties, and other technical documentation
  • Solar Project Engineer - Progresses and tracks the success of multiple projects through late stage development, EPC, construction, turnover, and O&M phases
  • Solar Project Engineer - Involved throughout pre construction, interconnection, permitting, finance, and other late stage solar project development initiatives
  • Solar Project Engineer - Plays a proactive role in the EPC Design review process to ensure project are optimized appropriately
  • Solar Project Engineer - Works cross-functionally to ensure project transmission interconnection requirements are met based on ISO/RTO or AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) needs
  • Solar Project Engineer - Builds and manages relationships with internal (construction, finance, etc.) as well as external (off takers, utilities, government / community) stakeholders to drive project success

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field
  • NABCEP Associates Photovoltaic Certification - a huge plus
  • 3-5 years of project experience in community solar development, C&I renewables, real estate project management, or related clean energy infrastructure
  • Previous work experience on Ground Mount, Rooftop or Carport solar systems - a huge plus
  • Experience within ISO-NE, NYISO, and/or North East AHJ's (Authority Having Jurisdictions)
  • Experience in full cycle project development for C&I or utility scale renewable energy projects
  • Understanding of the EPC Design process for structural and electrical layouts
  • Proficiency with PVsyst, AutoCAD, or Helioscope design tools
  • Previous experience with Procore project management software - a huge plus
