About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) Detroit office is looking for an experienced Project Engineer - Civil Design (P.E. License required) to join our Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality, responsiveness, and a proven track record of success as a Primecivil engineering firm. As the Project Engineer with hands on Design experience, you will be responsible for growing and showcasing your talents in this highly visible position that will work closely with the Project Manager to develop design concepts that are incorporated into a final product; and support the relationship with the client. Work is conducted in a team environment and coordinated with other disciplines. In addition, you will conduct periodic visits to construction sites as projects require. Essential Duties/Functions and Responsibilities
* Analyzes and interprets various technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
* Assist Project Manager with the preparation of complex design computations, plans, and related construction documents.
* Familiarity with MDOT experience including plan development
* Assists in handling contract administration with clients and sub-consultants.
* Assists in the review and preparation of engineering agreements for projects.
* Assists Project, Design, and/or Office Managers as requested.
* Ensures that project documents and files are organized.
* Monitors work-in-process and assists in directing and/or supervising the work of other engineers' activities on projects.
* Prepares and presents technical information to colleagues and clients.
* Prepares engineering and design documents using computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment.
* Supports coordination of staff activities to ensure project budget, schedule, and quality goals are achieved.
* Visits construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; and Professional Engineer (PE) License (Michigan) required
* Must bring 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in construction or infrastructure projects, preferably with a focus on airport or other infrastructure projects; with a minimum 4 years as a Project Engineer
* Proficient in AutoCAD and MicroStation a must
* Demonstrated leadership and reliability substantiated by a track record of successful project delivery
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Working Conditions:
* IEI will provide a company vehicle for fieldwork with acceptable driver's record.
* Must be physically capable of walking and moving about on the construction sites, have good hand-eye coordination, and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
* Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions or in-progress construction hazards: fumes, toxic chemicals, risk of electric shock, and vibration. Often works around dust, asphalt, and concrete.
* Sometimes needs to put in extra hours, including weekends, to keep up with intense construction work at times and deal with unexpected situations and accidents.
* Spends some time working indoors to review blueprints and write reports.
* Usually works a standard 40-hour workweek either daytime or nighttime.
* Usually works in outside weather conditions.
