Job description

The Business Development Manager is responsible for developing and executing business development strategies throughout the Puget Sound region. This role focuses on creating opportunities, expanding client relationships, identifying strategic projects, and driving revenue growth through collaboration with operations, preconstruction, estimating, and executive leadership teams. The successful candidate will possess a strong network within the Puget Sound construction market and a demonstrated ability to convert relationships into awarded work.

Duties and Responsibilities Include the Following

1. Develop and execute a business development strategy for the Puget Sound region aligned with company growth objectives.

2. Build and maintain relationships with owners, developers, engineering firms, architects, consultants, general contractors, and trade partners.

3. Identify, qualify, and track project opportunities from concept through contract award.

4. Partner with Operations, Preconstruction, Estimating, and Marketing teams to develop pursuit and win strategies.

5. Maintain an active presence in the market through customer meetings, project visits, industry organizations, and networking events.

6. Develop and maintain a documented opportunity pipeline with measurable growth objectives and forecasting metrics.

7. Support proposal development, interviews, presentations, budgets, qualifications packages, and pursuit strategies.

8. Create and maintain executive-level relationships with key decision makers and project influencers.

9. Provide market intelligence, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to regional leadership teams.

10. Foster long-term client relationships that result in repeat business and negotiated opportunities.

11. Drive a consultative sales approach focused on understanding customer needs and aligning company resources to provide value-driven solutions.

12. Support regional growth initiatives and strategic market expansion efforts.

13. Generate new opportunities while maintaining and expanding existing customer relationships.

14. Represent the company at industry organizations, conferences, trade events, and community functions.

15. Collaborate with project teams to ensure successful project transitions and ongoing client satisfaction.

16. Maintain CRM activity, forecasting, and business development reporting requirements.

17. Communicate regularly with Regional VP’s, Project Executives, Project Managers, and Preconstruction teams.

18. Consistently uphold company values, processes, and operational standards while representing the organization in the marketplace.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the electrical construction industry, including five (5) years in Business Development, Preconstruction, Client Development, Account Management, or Strategic Sales; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • This position requires approximately 40–60% travel throughout the Puget Sound region with occasional overnight travel. The expectation is that this role is either in the office or with clients, minimal remote work.
  • Strong business development and relationship-building skills. Understanding of electrical construction, estimating, preconstruction, project delivery methods, CRM systems, and strategic opportunity planning
  • Valid driver's license required.

Benefits

Salary range for this position is $165,000-$185,000 annually.

Opportunity for a discretionary year-end bonus.
