Job description

Position Summary...In this role you will lead early-stage development of onsite energy projects across Walmart’s portfolio, including opportunity screening, feasibility assessment, business case development, and cross-functional execution support, while helping scale the tools and workflows that support Walmart’s onsite energy program.
As energy becomes increasingly important to Walmart’s growth, cost leadership, resilience, and emissions reduction strategy, the Walmart Energy team is building solutions that help the business operate more reliably, affordably, and sustainably. This role sits on the Onsite Energy Solutions team and is responsible for advancing onsite distributed generation opportunities across Walmart’s portfolio of retail facilities.What you'll do...
  • Lead early-stage development of onsite energy projects from initial screening through handoff to execution partners
  • Assess project feasibility by evaluating energy markets, tariffs, operating needs, project economics, incentives, permitting, risks, and timelines
  • Apply technologies such as solar, battery storage, fuel cells, generators, and microgrid controls to improve affordability, resiliency, and environmental performance
  • Use AI tools, analytics, and portfolio-scale site screening to evaluate large numbers of sites, prioritize opportunities, and develop scalable project strategies
  • Develop business cases and present data-driven recommendations to senior leadership
  • Manage external developers and coordinate cross-functionally to advance projects efficiently across new and existing stores 
What you’ll bring...
  • Experience developing onsite energy solutions, including solar, battery storage, generators, fuel cells, and microgrids
  • Strong ability to evaluate distributed generation impacts on energy costs, resiliency, and project value
  • Experience assessing project feasibility, development risk, and commercial outcomes
  • Experience using AI tools, analytics, and large datasets to screen and prioritize large portfolios of sites
  • Strong ability to build business cases and communicate recommendations to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Experience structuring and negotiating commercial terms for energy transactions, including PPAs, ESAs, and build-transfer agreements, from either the buyer or seller perspective
  • Proficiency reviewing technical and financial modeling outputs; experience with Energy Toolbase, HelioScope, PVsyst, Xendee, or similar tools is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, energy systems, business, economics, finance, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience; advanced degree or certifications such as PMP, CEM, PE, NABCEP, or similar are preferred
