OVERVIEW

SUMMARY 


The Senior Development Associate supports the Development team’s alignment around strategic compass priorities and annual department goals. The Senior Development Associate reports to the Director of Development Operations. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES   

Salesforce Management (~30%) 

  • Enters and maintains accurate donor data in Salesforce, including new records, contact information changes, contact preferences, and facilitates en-masse record updates in collaboration with the Information & Knowledge Management Team. 
  • Maintains Salesforce data integrity by deduping records, identifying and resolving data inconsistencies, and ensuring all information is properly represented and maintained with strict confidentiality. 
  • Generates and maintains Salesforce reports for the Development team, delivering accurate data insights to support fundraising strategies and stewardship engagements. 
  • Collaborates with the Director of Development Operations to proactively identify database and operational inefficiencies, taking a solutions-oriented approach to resolving them. 

Donor Stewardship (~30%)   

  • Oversees end-to-end lifecycle of stock gifts, from initial acceptance and donor verification to the final recording and tax receipt 
  • Fields and responds to calls, voicemails, and email inquiries from donors and prospects, including management of the donation inbox ensuring timely and professional communication  
  • Generates and distributes tax receipt letters for all applicable gifts in a timely and accurate manner 
  • Processes donor requests to update or discontinue recurring donations and administer refunds where appropriate, utilizing both EveryAction and Salesforce 
  • Manages matching gift confirmations and the import of third-party giving data reports to ensure donors are accurately credited 
  • Oversees the timely filing of State and Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) registrations and renewals. 
  • Maintains team-relevant Campaigns in Salesforce by managing contact lists, adding and removing contacts as necessary, and coordinating the distribution of monthly VIP emails from CEO. 

Event Support (~25%) 

  • Leads administrative support for all external events where Development is either the lead organizer or a key planning partner.  
  • Supports the management of Development event data within Salesforce including but not limited to, invitation list creation, pulling reports, and RSVP tracking.  
  • In collaboration with the Communications team and the Director of Donor Engagement, supports with external event communications including invitation text, follow up notes, event flyers, and event registration pages in EveryAction.  
  • Works closely with teams across the organization to identify opportunities for meetings and events, including managing a calendar of Programs staff travel and grantee travel.  
  • Builds and manages a database of preferred event vendors in key cities across the U.S. including venues, caterers, A/V, etc.  
  • Works with the Director of Donor Engagement and Gift Officers to draft event project plans and briefing notes.  
  • Occasional travel and work on nights and weekends required to support event activities.  
  • Potential to lead event concept development and planning based on experience and interest. 

Team Support (~15%) 

  • Provides administrative support to the VP of Development, including calendaring, travel support, contracts, and ad-hoc tasks.  
  • Manages the calendaring of Development team meetings, and other team-related occurrences.   
  • Forwards and alerts all gift receipt notifications to appropriate Gift Officer through proper channels in a timely manner. 
  • Manages and facilitates printing, production, and collateral needs across the team.

KEY SKILLS / WAYS OF DOING 

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a fundraising capacity 
  • Strong demonstrated experience with a CRM platform, preferably Salesforce, including report generation and data management; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required 
  • Demonstrated experience processing charitable gifts, including stock transfers, recurring donations, and matching gifts. 
  • Experience coordinating logistics for external events, including vendor sourcing, RSVP tracking, and invitation workflows. 
  • Experience working in a diverse, team-oriented, and fast-paced environment 

Preferred

  • Administrative support experience in a fundraising or development setting 
  • Interest in and knowledge of women's human rights issues 

Salary range of $65,000 - $95,000* 

*This range is reflective of our high-market geo and will vary based on the candidate’s city and state of residence.
