Job description

Responsible for delivering projects on time, on budget, with quality based on the most current project baseline. Define and drive engineering vision and technical strategy aligned with business goals. Guide architecture decisions, technology stack evolution, and system scalability. Ensure engineering solutions meet standards for performance, security, reliability, and maintainability. Ensure production systems meet Service Level Agreement/uptime commitments. Oversee incident management, root cause analysis, and post-mortems. Drive improvements in CI/CD, testing, observability, and release processes. Promote DevOps, automation, and reliability best practices. Partner closely with Product Management, Architecture, QA, Security, UX, and Operations. Translate business requirements into executable technical plans. Communicate trade-offs, timelines, and risks to stakeholders and leadership. Enforce engineering standards, coding practices, and design reviews. Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements. Manage vendor relationships and third-party integrations where applicable. Partner with Project Managers to provide direction as to what Plan-Build-Run steps will be required to ensure high-quality deliverables and ensure the appropriate variances are created. Transition from the Build team to the Run/Support team. Set clear expectations, hold people accountable, keep the team motivated and challenged, and provide appropriate recognition and feedback to direct reports. Identify gaps and areas of opportunity, eliminate single point of failure on critical systems, and identify training needs. Create a succession plan to mentor and grow direct reports and foster an environment where people are challenged to step up and become leaders. Perform resource allocation in Project Management Tool - resource commitments, respond to resource requests on a timely manner, review and approve time on a timely basis to ensure our allocation goals (for strategic and small projects) are on track, perform appropriate corrective actions (performance, schedule) to avoid over-allocation. Partner with Business Relations Managers to influence our business partners to set realistic expectations on project scope and schedule based on our internal capacity. Collaborate with IT peers to resolve resource issues and communication to Sr. Management and business. Conduct bi-weekly (monthly minimum) project execution meetings to provide Sr. Management with project updates of the entire line of business portfolio. Ensure the appropriate Production Install Requests (PIR's) are complete and have the required quality to implement new projects into production. Position will supervise approximately 5 junior developers (Developer 1 to Developer 5).
This position requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a related field and 8 years (96 months) related experience. Must also have 24 months of experience (which may have been gained concurrently) with each of the following: (1) Leveraging modern technologies, including Java, J2EE, microservices, Spring Boot, WCS, GCP, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Docker, ReactJS, MongoDB, Kafka, Oracle, Redis, DevOps tooling, and Generative AI; (2) Leading cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, scalable, secure, and cloud-optimized solutions; (3) Modernizing legacy systems, driving API-first digital transformation, and optimizing cloud infrastructure; (4) Collaborating with senior-level stakeholders to define architecture roadmaps and deliver digital programs aligned with business strategy; and (5) Implementing AI-driven use cases, including recommendation engines, predictive analytics, and automation frameworks.
