The Project Cost Controller is in charge of cost controlling and reporting for EPC capital projects which range from $30 million to $250 million. He/she reports functionally to the Project Managers and directly to the Manager of Operations and Project Controls.

Job Responsibilities:
Cost Controlling
  • Implement appropriate cost controlling processes for EPC capital projects
  • Develop and maintain cost baseline and associated forecast for 2/3 projects in accordance with the defined cost breakdown structure and company guidelines
  • Responsible to control and monitor all project expenditures, monitor commitments / exposure, engineering hours and cash flow
  • Analyze all additional charges or claims from suppliers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure that all potential project costs are captured and properly recorded
  • Focus on construction activities with subcontractors and vendors, review T&M works and provide forecast
  • Coordinate with Accounting for cost reconciliations
  • Coordinate the maintenance of the project register for the tracking of quantities (civil, steel, piping, E&I, staffing & manhours)
  • Analyze cost uncertainties and capex risks and implement the foregoing for monte-carlo simulations
  • Forecast the Percentage of Completion of projects through completion for proper financial planning
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of supporting systems and data files

Reporting
  • Collaborate with Project Manager to issue reliable Project Status Report (schedule & progress, key events, cost report, hours report, risks and contract highlights, etc.), the project Risk reporting and potential ad-hoc reports requested by Management
  • Ensure the project data quality reported through the different systems and databases (Project Status Reports, Power BI, etc.)
  • Attend project review meetings with stakeholders and support Project Manager to explain the project financial situation to Management
  • Actively contribute in development and global support of cost management and benchmarking tools as well as continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate with Project Development to provide feedbacks, lessons learnt and benchmarks in order to support the estimating of future projects

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance or equivalent is required
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future. This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • 3-5 years experience in project cost control in petrochemicals, oil & gas, mining, infrastructure or nuclear industry or similar construction industry
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects with competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong analytical & organization skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including presentation delivery to large / small group
  • Autonomy and self-initiative to proactively gather necessary information from cross-functional sources
  • Potential limited travel to job sites (domestic)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Scheduling experience
  • Master MS office project or Primavera (P6)
  • Experience with SAP ERP system
  • Experience with Power BI
  • Experience in EPC project environment
