What are Project Controls Interns?

Project Controls Interns are entry-level professionals who assist in planning, monitoring, and controlling projects to ensure they are completed on time and within budget. They typically work under the supervision of experienced project controllers or project managers, helping with tasks like scheduling, cost estimating, data analysis, and progress reporting. This role is a common starting point for students or recent graduates interested in project management, engineering, or construction. Through hands-on experience, Project Controls Interns gain valuable skills in project management software, budgeting, and communication.

How does a Project Controls Intern typically contribute to project teams on a day-to-day basis?

As a Project Controls Intern, your daily responsibilities often involve supporting the project management team by tracking project progress, updating schedules, and assisting with cost analysis. You'll likely work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather data, prepare reports, and help identify potential risks to timelines or budgets. This hands-on experience allows you to develop a strong understanding of project controls processes and build valuable skills in team collaboration and problem-solving within a structured environment.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Project Controls Intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Project Controls Intern, you need a foundational understanding of project management principles, data analysis, and a relevant degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
