As a Project Controls Manager - Growth Projects at Vopak North America, your mission is to enhance Project Execution Excellence throughout the US and Canada Business Unit (BU). What do we expect from you as a Project Controls Manager?
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) as required by the Maritime Transportation Security Act.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or other related field.
  • 10-15 years of experience in project controls for large industrial projects, with at least 5 years as a project controls leader.
  • Proven capability to establish and manage project controls programs.
  • Analytical capability on Bachelor's Degree level, preferably with affinity to data analytics and/or data science.
  • Familiarity with Monte Carlo quantitative analysis software.
  • Ability to work and engage team members and stakeholders, cross generation and cross culture.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Self-propelling, entrepreneurial with grit and determination.
  • Good social skills, connects easily with business, develops Vopak networks, inspires and facilitates people.

What does your day look like?
Your core responsibilities are:
  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of all cost control, reporting, scheduling, planning and progress measurement procedures, and systems across all the Business Unit's Growth projects.
  • Develop, implement and maintain the project controls data specifications to enable controls and benchmarking on project CBS level, WBS level and as well as norms analysis.
  • Develop, implement and maintain a project database to support project estimating and benchmarking.
  • Ensure project budgets and schedules conform to Vopak's cost breakdown and work breakdown structures for effective cost tracking, progressing, cost reporting and scheduling, resource planning, change management, forecasting cost, schedule analysis and reporting.
  • Develop, implement and maintain project reporting formats, utilizing industry-standard tools to allow pro-active informed intervention on Project Execution across all BU projects. Tools include:
    • Primavera P6 for scheduling (required)
    • Oracle or Cleopatra Enterprise for cost control and estimating (preferred)
    • Data Studio or equivalent for executive dashboards and data analytics (preferred)
    • Quantitative risk software (preferred)
  • Participate in Growth project risk identification sessions and implement a risk evaluation process that utilizes a quantitative Monte Carlo analysis approach.
  • Implement data acquisition, analysis and project control systems - to allow pro-active informed intervention on Project Execution on all BU projects.
  • Responsible for the participation, development and oversight of the project specific project control plans to ensure it meets the project's requirements as well as compliance with Vopak policies and procedures
  • Support the development and maintenance of a project lessons learned database.
  • Provide oversight and audit of schedule, cost performance and reporting on all BU Growth projects.
  • Interface with Global Projects in the use and development of procedures and reporting standardization.
  • Provide input to the continuous improvement of the global standards, global tooling and global templates regarding projects
  • Develop standardization for reporting over all the BU's projects
  • Update and deliver the Monthly Project Status Report as part of the Global Status Report cycle
  • Report overview of the Project Workload lookahead
  • Support BU Project Governance with respect to project controls.
  • Track project performance and support intervention where required with the BU Project Managers
  • The Project Controls Manager, Growth Projects is the primary project controls support for all BU projects in the FEL-1 and FEL-2 stages. For FEL-3 and Execution stages of a project, the Project Controls Manager is responsible to ensure appropriate project controls support resources are provided to the project teams.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Work Environment
This employee generally works in an office environment, away from extremes of cold or heat. Limited to no exposure to noise and vibrations other than normal daily office sounds. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee should not have regular exposure to fumes, odors, toxic conditions, dust or poor ventilation.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, speak and hear. The employee is required to stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; the employee may be required, on occasion, to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Employee may be required to travel by air, rail, bus, or car.
