Gallant is seeking a Project Controls Specialist to support the financial and operational performance of our projects through accurate, timely, and proactive project controls.

Reporting to the Operations Accounting Manager, this position works closely with Operations, Finance, field teams, project leadership, and clients to establish jobs and budgets, track project costs and labor, maintain forecasts, support billing and change management, and deliver consistent project reporting.

This role is ideal for someone who understands construction project controls, is highly analytical and detail-oriented, and can effectively bridge the gap between field operations and financial reporting.

• Prepare accurate and timely project cost reporting for Operations, Finance, clients, and Executive Management.
• Complete job setup, including extras, to properly track field and fabrication shop work.
• Establish internal control budgets from job estimates in Sage and support contract and Schedule of Values (SOV) setup.
• Review and troubleshoot cost codes and cost categories to ensure consistent and effective project cost tracking.
• Run standardized cost reports and analyze Budget vs. Actual performance, project status, labor hours, commitments, and forecasts.
• Assist project teams with timesheet review and labor-hour tracking using Rhumbix and Sage.
• Participate in recurring project controls meetings covering costs, labor, commitments, schedule impacts, changes, billing, and forecasts.
• Maintain project forecasts, including labor-hour forecasts and comparisons between estimating and forecast margins.
• Support internal cost and labor classification movements and other active-project changes.
• Support client and external change management, including subcontractor/vendor costs, commitment changes, out-of-scope work, and deductive change orders.
• Support weekly billing activities, including SOV percent-complete review, billing status, and AR Aging review.
• Update Sage with approved changes and maintain Project Status Reports, Labor Hours Reports, Commitment Logs, Forecast Updates, Job Cost Status Reports, and Project Log Activity.
• Prepare client-specific reporting and proactively communicate resource or scheduling needs.
• Document project controls meeting minutes, action items, responsible parties, and upcoming deliverables.
• Serve as a key liaison between field operations and office teams to improve communication, accountability, consistency, and data accuracy.
• Follow established Project Controls procedures for job and contract setup, estimate entry, change management, drawing logs, RFIs, labor cost forecasting, and Sage reporting.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or coursework in Business, Accounting, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
• 3+ years of Project Controls or related construction project experience preferred.
• Experience with construction cost tracking, forecasting, billing, change management, job costing, or project financial controls.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify discrepancies, trends, and potential project constraints.
• Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accurate and timely reporting.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Sage ERP experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Rhumbix or similar construction timekeeping/project systems is a plus.
• Ability to quickly learn new systems, reporting tools, and processes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively across Operations, Finance, field teams, project leadership, vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
• Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining recurring weekly reporting and project deliverables.

This position primarily works in a professional office environment but may occasionally visit client facilities or active project sites. Site access may require drug/alcohol testing, background screening, site-specific orientations, and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

The position regularly requires computer and telephone use and may occasionally require lifting or moving up to 25 pounds.
