Reporting to the Director of Project Controls (or designate),ย  the Project Controls Analyst will be responsible for providing project controls support to ongoing projects and supporting the company's estimating and construction teams to ensure that the company's project controls system is properly implemented and utilized. This role will involve development and maintenance of data, dashboards, KPI's and predictive analytics for our Utilities projects.ย 

What You'll Do Here:ย ย ย ย 

  • Participate in developing, establishing, and maintaining the company's project cost control systems.ย 
  • Assist the project team in setting up the project WBS, project cost codes, and the project baseline Budget.ย 
  • Monitor the project performance and ensure that the project controls system is properly implemented.ย 
  • Train the project team on how to implement and maintain the prescribed change management procedures.ย 
  • Provide Aecon management team with all the required project controls summary reports and analyses.ย 
  • Review the project contract and ensure that all the contract conditions (invoicing, reporting and all related issues) are applied and fulfilled when setting up the project within Aecon's project controls system.ย 
  • Participate in setting up and controlling the project structure (WBS) and related cost structure (CBS).ย 
  • Participate in the coordination between estimating and site to ensure that the project controls system is properly implemented.ย 
  • Monitor the change management system on site by making sure that the project staff understands the system and how the changes should be managed and tracked on site and within Aecon's systems.ย 
  • Ensure that the project site staff and crew understand the cost code structure of the project and that they are charging their expended hours to the correct codes.ย 
  • Review and analyze the project controls reports (i.e. progress and productivity) with the Project Controls Lead and the project team and suggest corrective actions to maintain expected performance and productivity.ย 
  • Review and analyze the project scheduling and cost reports and suggest corrective actions to maintain the project within planned cost and schedule.ย 
  • Prepare and update project cash flows as required throughout the project life cycle.ย 
  • Supervise and mentor developing Project Controls Analysts.ย 
  • Assist the project manager in preparing project monthly reports and forecasting.ย 
  • Assist the project scheduler and the project team in preparing, reviewing, and maintaining the project schedule.

What You Will Bring to the Team:ย ย ย ย ย 

  • Good knowledge of the "Earned Value" principles.ย 
  • Experience in data analytics tools including but not limited to advanced MS Excel, Power Query, SAP, and Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate).
  • Experience in automating data flow and setting up data pipelines would be an asset.
  • Knowledge/ experience in using SQL & Python would be an asset.
  • Experience developing dashboards, KPIS and analytics in support of business operational excellence.ย 
  • Design, develop and establish key reporting standards.
  • Ability to read schedules and scheduling curves/reports.ย 
  • Between twoย and threeย (2ย to 3) years of related experience.ย 
  • Good knowledge of cost engineering/cost control.ย 
  • Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks within a high-pressure work site environment.ย 
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skillsย 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skillsย 
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of management and employees.ย
