Amaneos US, Inc.

Auburn Hills, MI โ€ข On-site

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Senior Commodity Buyer, you will own sourcing strategy and supplier relationships across a mixed portfolio of direct materials and components within our automotive manufacturing supply chain, rather than a single category. You'll balance cost, quality, and supply security for ongoing series production, partnering closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. You'll also support our Project Buyers on supplier selection and negotiation for your commodities when needed.

This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who wants broad ownership of the direct material purchasing function at a smaller organization — comfortable moving between strategic sourcing and day-to-day execution, negotiating directly with suppliers, and building processes rather than just following them.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Sourcing Strategy: Develop and execute sourcing strategies across your commodity portfolio, ensuring timely, cost-competitive, and risk-managed supply of materials and components for manufacturing operations.

Supplier Management: Identify, qualify, and manage a supplier base; build strong relationships; and hold suppliers accountable for cost, quality, and delivery performance, working closely with Supplier Quality/Development on audits, quality assessments, and supplier development activities.

Contract Negotiation: Lead RFQs, bid analysis, and negotiation of pricing, terms, and long-term agreements with suppliers to secure favorable and sustainable commercial conditions.

Cost-Saving Initiatives: Lead and deliver cost-reduction projects — should-cost analysis, VA/VE, competitive re-sourcing — and report savings against targets.

Market Analysis: Monitor commodity markets, raw material indices, and supplier capabilities to anticipate risk and identify sourcing opportunities ahead of need.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and Finance to resolve day-to-day material issues and support cost/quality improvements on existing, in-production parts. Support Project Buyers with supplier selection and negotiation for your commodities when needed.

Risk & Supply Continuity: Identify and mitigate supply chain risks (single-source exposure, capacity, financial health) to protect continuity of supply.

Demand & Inventory Planning: Collaborate with planning teams to forecast demand and optimize inventory levels against production schedules and customer needs.

Data & Reporting: Track and analyze procurement data — cost savings, supplier performance, market trends — to support fact-based decisions and leadership reporting.

Compliance: Ensure sourcing activity complies with Amaneos policies and procedures, quality requirements, and ethical/sustainable sourcing standards.

WHAT YOU BRING

Bachelor's degree in business administration, Engineering, or a related field. (Master's preferred).

5–7+ years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or commodity management, including experience working with OEMs and/or Tier 1 automotive suppliers (required).

Global sourcing and international supplier management experience.

Comfort managing a mixed commodity portfolio rather than a single category — able to prioritize across multiple materials/components and switch context quickly.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing materials and processes relevant to the assigned commodities.

Proven track record negotiating contracts and delivering cost-savings results.

Strong analytical skills, comfortable working with procurement/ERP systems and data to drive decisions.

Experience leading cross-functional and supplier-facing projects, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across internal stakeholders and external suppliers.

WHY JOIN AMANEOS

Real ownership of your commodity portfolio — direct influence on cost and supplier strategy, close collaboration with leadership, and the chance to shape how the purchasing function is built as the company grows.

Amaneos is a fast-growing global Tier 1 automotive supplier — “Born to move” — spanning exterior, interior, and powertrain systems for OEMs including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, and Ford, with 20+ locations across Europe, North Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

An entrepreneurial, agile culture that's scaling quickly through organic growth and acquisition (most recently Magna's lighting business) — joining now means shaping how the purchasing function grows alongside the company.
