Whether your background is in civil engineering, environmental science, or infrastructure design, this is a great opportunity to contribute to meaningful work in a collaborative and innovative environment.
About Artheon
Artheon is a trusted engineering and consulting firm offering services that rival large organizations while maintaining the personalized client relationships of a boutique firm. With expertise spanning civil/site engineering, environmental permitting, transportation infrastructure, construction management, and advanced surveying technologies, we are committed to delivering high-quality, timely solutions to local, state, and federal clients.
Position Summary
We're looking for a Project Biller to join our growing accounting team in our Berlin, NJ office. This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting engineering or consulting projects who enjoys working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where billing accuracy and financial organization are critical.
While billing is the primary focus of the role, this position offers the opportunity to expand into broader project accounting responsibilities over time. You'll partner closely with Project Managers across our Transportation practice, helping ensure projects remain financially healthy while supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, reporting, and other accounting functions.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing infrastructure consulting firm that is committed to developing accounting professionals into well-rounded Project Accountants.
  • Manage the complete project billing process for transportation engineering projects.

  • Process invoices and maintain billing schedules.
  • Review timesheets and expense reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Perform credit card reconciliation and other monthly accounting activities.
  • Generate monthly revenue reports and support project financial reporting.
  • Monitor job costs against budget and collections to determine project status.

  • 5+ years of accounting or project billing experience, preferably within the Architecture, Engineering, or Construction (AEC) industry.
  • Experience with project billing and invoicing.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes.
  • Experience reviewing employee timesheets and expense reports.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Deltek VantagePoint.
  • Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting engineering or professional services firms.
The base salary range for this role is indicated in the posting. This range reflects the company's good faith estimate of the compensation for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location.
Artheon offers a competitive compensation package including medical, prescription, dental and vision coverage, 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, educational assistance program and paid time off/parental leave.
