About the Role

We are looking for a Lab Automation Support Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will work with Testing, Manufacturing, IT, Product and Quality teams by responding to error alerts, work requests, and offering assistance promptly to ensure lab operations run smoothly. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to: troubleshooting automation-related instruments, investigating downed systems and performing root cause analysis, repairing instruments, performing post-maintenance performance validation, and programming software for equipment and manufacturing solutions.

This role will be located at our facility in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Responsibilities
  • Program equipment software in a test and manufacturing environment (Venus, SoftMax Pro, etc.)
  • Author and execute test scripts in both development and production environments
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain robotic liquid handling systems and other automation instrumentation
  • Interact with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Qualify lab equipment for production use, create and revise SOPs
  • Work with engineering and quality assurance teams to develop software requirements, specifications, and validation documentation for equipment and software to support the manufacturing and testing of medical devices
  • Support, troubleshoot and improve software and related hardware for existing equipment for manufacturing and testing systems
  • Work in a highly regulated, hands-on medical device testing environment
  • Communicate technical ideas and concepts to audiences with various backgrounds
  • Provide day-to-day support for lab staff and production systems through investigating problems and providing root causes
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with programming / software development experience
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, plan and complete large technical projects along with daily unplanned tasks
  • Demonstrated track record of attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively as part of a team, including influencing across functions
  • Ability to document, communicate, and present technical bodies of work
  • Ability to work within a quality system
  • Ability to learn new test equipment and software
  • Flexibility to adapt to change on a short notice
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in medical device or other regulated industry
  • Experience with data acquisition systems similar to LIMS, MES, etc., and experience with file server networking administration
  • Experience operating and maintaining industry standard laboratory equipment hardware and software used in high throughput laboratories, including but not limited to liquid handling robotic systems (Hamilton STAR)
