Key Responsibilities
Project Financial Management
- Set up new projects in the accounting system (Deltek), including budgets, contract values, billing rules, and cost codes.
- Monitor project budgets, commitments, and actual costs; analyze variances and recommend corrective actions.
- Prepare monthly Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules, revenue recognition calculations, and margin forecasts.
- Perform project cash-flow analysis and support planning for funding needs.
- Assist with international and domestic compliance monitoring, including local tax preparation and filing.
Billing & Revenue Recognition
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly billings, including progress billings, T&M invoices, and milestone-based billing.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms and customer requirements.
- Reconcile billed vs. earned revenue and ensure proper cutoffs.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare monthly project financial statements and performance dashboards in Deltek.
- Review and validate project accruals, deferred revenue, and cost allocations.
- Support quarter-end and year-end close activities, including audit support.
Controls & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to GAAP, company policies, and internal control standards.
- Maintain audit-ready project documentation, including contracts, change orders, and cost support.
- Assist with implementing process improvements and system enhancements.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with project managers to support forecasting, risk management, and change order processing.
- Provide training and guidance to project teams on financial procedures and best practices.
- Collaborate with procurement, AP/AR, and payroll to ensure accurate cost flows.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in project accounting, construction accounting, engineering, or similar project-based industries.
- Understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
- Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems โ Deltek Highly Preferred (Deltek, Oracle, Viewpoint, SAP, NetSuite).
- Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, modeling).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience with percent-complete revenue recognition.
- Previous experience supporting multi-million-dollar or multi-year projects in the Architecture and Engineering space.
- Familiarity with job-costing and project management concepts.

Working Conditions
- This full-time position is based in either our Fairfield, CT, or Denver, CO, office.
- Standard 40-hour work week with occasional additional time required to meet deadlines.
- Our Denver office is located downtown Denver. Employees are responsible for parking arrangements.
Salary
- $70,000 - $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
