Job description

Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Tribal Administrator, responsible for bid development and scheduling and coordination of major projects. maintain constant and effective communications with team members, internal/external customers and vendors. Works with General Contractors, Site Superintendents, Field Staff and Executive Staff. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information at all times.


Duties and Responsibilities:


· Provide direction on the project approach to requesting departments including level of involvement of engineers, architects, construction feasibility and design suggestions.

· Provide project cost estimates either as a concept budget or coordinating the development of a schematic design-based budget.

· Assist in presentations to Tribal Council to include project updates or requests for funding.

· Coordinate competitive bid packages

· Assist with review of the bid packages with requesting department and assist in the selection of architects and engineers.

· Ensure contracts are properly approved by Legal and Tribal Council.

· Coordinate project meetings with architects and engineers through design phases including support departments per the project needs.

· Maintain and update project plan and timelines.

· Coordinate review of all project pay applications for accuracy and submission to Tribal Council for payment.

· Coordinate the inspection of the work to ensure code compliance and conformance specifications of the related project bid documents.

· Inspect project work including networking with contractors and subcontractors, review of completed work, adherence to project documents, attending project progress meetings and coordinating needed inspections.

· Ensure all projects have been completed in accordance with the project plans, codes, budget and standards.

· Meet regularly with Tribal Administrator to discuss project updates, concerns and strategy for upcoming project completion.

· Regularly report to Tribal Council providing project updates, obtaining input for project scope/design, seeking approvals per submitted motion and prioritization of assigned work.

· Periodically inspect project work sites including networking with contractors/subcontractors, review of completed work, adherence to project documents, attendance in project progress meetings and coordination of needed inspections.

· Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field and two years of experience as a Construction Manager. OR

· Ten years of experience as a Construction Manager.

· Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred.

· Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.

· Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's license.

· Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.
