We are looking for a Project Engineer Level 2 / Assistant Project Manager to join our team. KWH is committed to attracting, developing, and retaining the best talent in the industry. From our structural engineers to our construction superintendents and field supervisors, the KWH team knows construction from start to finish. Responsibilities:
  • Assist in overseeing steel erection activities working with the Project Manager(s), Field Engineer(s), General Superintendent, Superintendent, General Foreman, and Foreman.
  • Meet daily with Project Manger(s), Field Engineer(s), and Field Supervisor(s) to review production schedule and confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for production to maintain schedule and within budget.
  • Collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements, and project data through the duration of the project to ensure quality and contract specification compliance.
  • Provide technical input for project work plan and scheduling. Identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment, or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule.
  • Evaluate daily production, schedule, and budget projections to accurately track project performance. Document daily activities in HeavyJob and Autodesk Construction Cloud Build.
  • Notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration.
  • Provide accurate project quantity input and controls using assigned project cost coding to ensure project financials are accurately reported. Manage cost coding with Company finance and accounting teams regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and Subcontractor needs.
  • Recommend field material and asset purchases.
  • Review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work, and after work completes. Initiate and manage appropriate certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction production on the project site.
  • Assist construction crews and engineering leaders to plan field layout on the project site.
  • Develop Project Budgets from Project Estimates.
  • Complete weekly Project Cost Reports.
  • Complete monthly Project Cost and Forecast Reports.
  • Assist the estimating team with project schedules and provide technical input as needed. Review structural steel erection estimates and proposals as required.
  • Assist in the development of design drawings and provides technical input, as needed.
  • Reconcile job close-out checklist with owner representative and field crews at the end of the project.
  • Maintain knowledge of Company values and strategic plan.
  • Ensure project and Company safety standards and environmental programs are adhered to.
  • Maintain current contacts, and development new contacts, in the construction industry with a view to sourcing new steel erection opportunities in Washington State and other US markets.
  • Be an ambassador of the Company both internally and externally while liaising with Clients, Owners, and Unions.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:
  • Work is performed in a combination standard office, field office, construction site, and hybrid / home environment. KWH is willing to work with all employees on a work environment that allows them to excel. However, as a Project Engineer Level 2 / Assistant Project Manager, extensive time will be spent at field offices and construction sites.
  • Subject to standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting of objects up to 75 pounds; may occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme weather conditions, physical harm, hazardous chemicals, and extreme noise when conducting site visits and working in the field.

Requirements
  • 7-10 years of construction experience, preferably including structural steel installation.
  • Steel Bridge and Industrial construction experience is preferred.
  • Degree in Civil or Construction Engineering is required.
  • PE designation is preferred; EIT registration is required.
  • Experience with HeavyJob, HeavyBid, and or Autodesk Construction Cloud Build is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of crane / lifting operations and rigging, construction equipment and techniques, review of drawings and specifications, building materials, and applicable project standards.
  • Site experience working with the structural ironworker trade is preferred.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and interface and communicate effectively with others.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US. Eligibility to work in Canada would be advantageous.

Salary Description
$115,000-$130,000 per year
