Duties, Responsibilities & Other
The Project Assistant supports the planning, coordination, and execution of projects by assisting Project Managers with task coordination, schedule tracking, and day-to-day project activities on data center and power generation projects. This role serves as a key organizational link between project teams, technical staff, and external partners to help keep projects on track. This is a fully in-office position based out of our Sparks, MD office.
Responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate project tasks, schedules, and deliverables across disciplines and workstreams in support of project execution.
  • Assist Project Managers with milestone tracking, task assignments, and follow-up to ensure project progress and accountability.
  • Maintain project plans, trackers, and role assignments to support clear communication of responsibilities and status.
  • Facilitate coordination between internal teams, subconsultants, and clients, as directed by the Project Manager.
  • Support document routing, reviews, and coordination of technical deliverables across project disciplines.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with KCI project management procedures, documentation standards, and quality requirements.
  • Perform additional coordination and project support duties as assigned.

Specialized Skills Preferred:
  • Minimum 1 year of experience supporting project coordination, scheduling, or execution in a professional services or engineering environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, track schedules, and support multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience coordinating projects within engineering, infrastructure, energy, transportation, or land development practices.
  • Familiarity with project plans, schedules, trackers, and deliverable workflows.
  • Experience using project management or collaboration tools (e.g., project trackers, shared workspaces).
  • Ability to proactively identify coordination issues and support timely resolution.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma is required; bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check are conditions of employment. Motor vehicle checks may be required based upon position.
