Irrigation Project Assistant Supervisor

The Opportunity

Leibold Irrigation, Inc. is seeking an Irrigation Project Assistant Supervisor to support the installation of a complete irrigation system at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

Working alongside the Project Supervisor, this individual will assist with daily field leadership and the installation of irrigation infrastructure across the Club's 63 golf holes. The project includes:

  • Pump stations
  • Water intakes
  • Mainline piping
  • Lateral piping
  • Irrigation heads
  • Control wiring
  • Central control components
  • Related irrigation infrastructure

This position provides an opportunity to gain broad, hands-on experience while working with an experienced Project Supervisor who has a strong record of developing assistants and preparing them for additional responsibility.

Position Summary

The Irrigation Project Assistant Supervisor will assist in coordinating daily field operations while also working alongside installation crews. The position will help ensure that work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and Leibold Irrigation standards.

This opportunity is well-suited for someone who enjoys working outdoors, solving problems, learning new skills, and taking ownership of assigned responsibilities. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, dependable, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Assist in supervising daily irrigation installation activities.
  • Coordinate daily assignments with the Project Supervisor.
  • Lead by example through professionalism, dependability, effort, and a positive attitude.
  • Assist with locating utilities in coordination with local utility providers.
  • Perform GPS-related work before, during, and after mainline and lateral installations.
  • Read and interpret irrigation plans, drawings, and specifications.
  • Assist with the installation of pipe, fittings, wire, valves, irrigation heads, pump systems, and related components.
  • Assist with programming irrigation stations throughout the property.
  • Help maintain project schedules and established quality standards.
  • Support jobsite safety procedures and reinforce accountability among crew members.
  • Communicate effectively with crew members, vendors, Club representatives, and project leadership.
  • Help identify and resolve installation challenges in the field.
  • Ensure equipment, tools, and materials are properly maintained and used efficiently.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned in support of the project.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess many of the following qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of golf course operations and environments is required.
  • Turfgrass industry experience is preferred.
  • Previous golf course mechanic experience is desirable.
  • Plumbing knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Electrical knowledge or experience is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read plans and follow detailed instructions.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Self-directed, motivated, and able to manage responsibilities with limited supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to learn quickly.
  • Dependable, team-oriented, and willing to assist where needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
