Job description

Senior Project Architect/Project Manager
Locations: Chicago, IL (preferred); Chantilly VA; Atlanta, GA.

Exp Federal is an established full-service architectural and engineering firm that provides a full range of design solutions and construction support to the federal government. Our team of professionals operates in some of the most challenging environments to provide support services to a variety of governmental agencies globally.

The Challenge:

We are seeking a Senior Project Architect/Project Manager to join our team in Chantilly, Virginia, Chicago, Illinois, or Atlanta, GA.

Principle Areas of Responsibility:

  • Develops presentation documents utilizing design training and participates in design presentations to Clients.
  • Develops design concepts through construction documents.
  • Responsible for the preparation of contract drawings.
  • Coordinates with the project team of architects and engineers.
  • Meets independently with vendors to review specific products to be incorporated into the documents.
  • Performs code reviews and meets independently with local code officials to review and determine specific local code requirements and project compliance.
  • Reviews contractor requests during the bid phase and develop and coordinates the distribution of addenda to the Contractors.
  • Conducts field visits during the construction phase to monitor and review the progress of the construction and complete field reports.
  • Travels onsite to project fields for client meetings and site inspections and visits: ~25% requirement

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture required from an accredited university.
  • 12+ years of experience as a Project Architect with a U.S. Registered Architecture (RA) license
  • Detailed knowledge of architectural/engineering practice with an emphasis on design, design development, preparation of construction documents, preparation of specifications, building materials, construction costs, and building codes.
  • Proficiency in REVIT and currently performing production work required.
  • Multi-story building design experience required.
  • Must be proficient with AutoCAD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance is required.

Optional Experience:

  • Experience with facilities for clients in the Federal Government sector is highly desirable.

Salary Base:

This full-time position as a Senior Project Architect/Project Manager, level V has an annual base range of $120,000-$150,000. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. The actual hourly rate is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
