Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Project Accountant is responsible for supporting the project(s) overall financial health, transparency and compliance by partnering with project(s) leadership on specific project(s) goals. This position requires strong understanding of project cost, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with project teams to ensure the financial success of our construction projects. This position may be located at a single project or may be located at a central office with occasional travel to local project sites. The Project Accountant will report to the Project Manager if assigned to a single project or may report to the local Finance Business Partner if involved on multiple projects.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Track and report on Financial and Operational health of the project to the Project Manager and/or Finance Business Partner 
  • Assist in project cost maintenance with Project Manager and/or Project Admin 
  • Track progress on monthly owner and subcontractor pay applications submitted by the Project Manager and/or Project Admin to ensure compliance, timely payments, understanding of billing position for the project and tracking against cash flow curves 
  • Perform trend analysis for project general conditions and general requirements to assist Project Manger 
  • Perform project forecasting analysis to assist Project Manager with profit forecast reporting such as Allowance and Contingency tracking 
  • Assist Project Manager in subcontractor or owner claims with detailed financial reporting 
  • Perform audits of project financials including sales tax verifications to confirm local compliance, insurance costs and verification of owner and subcontractor contract compliance 
  • Assist in project financial set-up including initial budget/cost codes, cash flow curves, establishing rates, etc 
  • Assist in Joint Venture project cost tracking and reporting including Joint Venture billings, rate verification, compliance and month-end consolidation reporting 
  • Assist in yearly internal and external audits as required
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an admin/sr. admin or 2+ years in an accountant role. Construction experience preferred.  
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field 
  • Must have excellent computer skills and be able to demonstrate proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)  
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment, able to multitask, meet critical deadlines with eye for accuracy and attention to details. 
  • Proactive, self-motivated, organized and able to work independently 
  • Ability to work with all levels of project staff and organization and communicate effectively 
  • Experience with CMiC and Procore a plus
