Job description

POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Project Accountant will play a crucial role in supporting construction projects by managing financial aspects for multiple or complex projects. This position requires strong financial acumen, attention to detail, and effective collaboration with project teams to ensure the financial success of our construction projects. The Senior Project Accountant is a key member of the Regional Finance team. This position will be located onsite a construction project around the greater St. Louis area.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Track and report on financial and operational health of assigned project(s).
  • Support project forecast reviews, trend analysis, project cash flow projections, and prepare other financial analysis as needed.
  • Support project teams in monitoring productivity, progress, and other key performance indicators to determine trending and overall project performance.
  • Oversee monthly owner and subcontractor pay applications to ensure compliance, timely payments, understanding of billing position for the project(s) and tracking against cash flow curves.
  • Assist projects in proper execution of change orders and budget maintenance.
  • Monitor accounts receivable status and escalate billing or collection concerns.
  • Perform accounting tasks for assigned projects in accordance with contract requirements and company policies.
  • Complete Job set up in ERP system with all necessary information, including initial budget/cost codes, establishing rates, etc.
  • Review Project Charts of Accounts for adherence to Standardized Chart of Accounts
  • Support and perform assigned month-end close activities, including posting journal entries & reconciling general ledger accounts.
  • Assist in yearly internal and external audits as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in an accountant role in the construction industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, and/or equivalent degree
  • Effective communication (both oral and written), organization and interpersonal skills
  • Highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, and experience with Pivot Tables, V-Look Ups, and other key functions
  • Experience with CMiC a plus
  • Mega project experience a plus
  • Flexible to travel a plus
