Job description

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer and screen incoming internal and external calls
  • Provide callers with information and direct calls to the appropriate departments
  • Monitor emergency and priority phone lines and respond immediately to urgent communications
  • Dispatch security and facilities personnel via radio communication systems
  • Announce emergency codes and important notifications overhead throughout the hospital
  • Monitor security alarms, cameras, and communication systems
  • Coordinate with hospital staff while following established hospital communication protocols

Training

  • Comprehensive PBX training provided
  • Approximately 4–6 weeks of full-time training
  • Training includes phone systems, emergency paging procedures, code announcements, and hospital communication protocols
  • Emergency code announcements are considered the most challenging part of the role and require significant practice

Pay and Benefits
