Position Summary
The Special Education Teacher (SET) is responsible for collaborating within the classroom team in the development, implementation, and monitoring of effective, individualized academic and behavioral programming for students. Addresses the unique educational, communication, and social/emotional needs of the student and provides support/guidance to the team.
Essential Responsibilities
  1. Assure effective academic and behavioral programming for each student which results in high rates of academic progress and successful program completion.
  2. Develop, implement, review, and report on Individualized Education Plans (IEP) for each student.
  3. Develop and implement a classroom/behavioral management system in collaboration with the classroom team.
  4. Assure effective behavioral health planning to increase each student's social and emotional learning skills.
  5. Assure the continuous safety of all students.
  6. Assure the continuing development of professional skills.

Qualifications
  1. Education/Certifications/Licensure:
    1. Requires PA State Teacher Certification in Special Education.
    2. Requires a bachelor's degree in special education.
    3. Requires valid state driver's license, safe driving record, and current auto insurance.
  2. Clearances Required by Applicable Regulations:

    1. State Police
    2. FBI
    3. Child Abuse Clearances
    4. Mandated Reporter-Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse training certificate and/or statement

Working Conditions
  • Physical Demands. This position requires a moderate to high level of physical activity. Employee must meet minimum requirements for Hearing, Speech and Vision.
