Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION: Youth Mentor (Anthem Program)
TIME COMMITMENT: Part-time, 24-29 hours per week
SCHEDULE: 3 shifts per week, including Sundays, able to pick up additional shifts
REPORTS TO: Anthem Program Director
PAY: $17.00-$19.00 depending on education and experience
This position qualifies for a $1.00/hour additional Shift Differential for swing shifts (3:00pm-11:00pm)
A mentor is directly responsible for the physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, educational, social, safety and security needs of each student.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Enforcing student rules
  • Monitoring and carrying out consequences under the direction of the shift supervisor
  • Charting in each student's medical record on the HQ database
  • Communicating and reporting to shift supervisor
  • Supporting and assisting other Telos departments in their job descriptions (i.e.: nursing appointments, education testing, grading, tutoring, general cleaning and maintenance, answering telephones, shopping, transporting) as allowed by staffing ratios
  • Participating on assigned committees or special assignments
  • Assisting with runaway retrieval
  • Participating in therapeutic holds and restraints
  • Attending and maintaining current certifications such as CPR and first aid

Qualifications:
  • Ideal for former athletes, coaches, military personnel, or those comfortable with confrontation and de-escalation
  • Requires strong presence, emotional control, and ability to influence behavior in real time
  • Exceptional relationship skills
