TRiO Program Director
Nature of Work
The Director provides programmatic administration and leadership for a federally funded TRiO-Student Support Services (SSS) project. Will ensure grant objectives are carried out in compliance with all governing regulations and provide liaison to the U.S. Department of Education. Responsible for enrollment management, budget management, staff supervision, procedural oversight, service assessment, and reporting. The Director represents Student Success Services to the campus community and collaborates with other campus constituencies to create a campus environment that is conducive to the academic success of low-income and first-generation college students and students with disabilities.
Examples of Work Performed
1. Facilitating the Student Success Services program goals and the activities designed for their accomplishment.
2. Formulating, publishing, coordinating and administering procedures, rules and regulations for Student Success Services within the college policies and procedures.
3. Administering federal grants in accordance with guidelines governing their use.
4. Providing liaison with the U.S. Department of Education Division of Student Assistance.
5. Maintaining liaison with campus constituencies, including meeting and corresponding with these units on Student Success Services program related matters.
6. Developing and maintaining an efficient record keeping system that facilitates program planning, development and evaluation as it relates to Student Success Services participants and staff.
7. Ensuring the completion of annual reports of program accomplishments.
8. Designing, implementing and supervising activities, courses and programs in accordance with the goals and objectives of the program.
9. Developing and implementing participant identification and selection procedures for special services. Supervises and ensures the maintenance of an effective system of admission, monitoring of academic progress, service records of Student Success Services participants in accordance with federal regulations. Maintain a roster on current Student Success Services participants.
10. Responsible for budget planning and expenditures, including: ensuring the monitoring of expenditures so they are in accordance with program goals and objectives, and generating financial reports and statements.
11. Supervising Student Success Services personnel and delegating responsibility as appropriate. Provides for the selection, orientation and in-service training and evaluation of program personnel.
12. Serving on assigned committees and attending regular meetings as required and requested.
13. Disseminating information about the services provided by Student Success Services to the college. Make presentations on SSS and plan other program sponsored functions.
14. Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree required, preferably in a field with relevance to effective practices in higher education student affairs: e.g., guidance and counseling, secondary education, educational psychology, psychology, sociology, personnel management, or social work. A minimum of three years supervisory experience or progressively responsible administrative experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications
Instructional experience is strongly preferred. Previous experience in designing, managing, or implementing an SSS or similar project and demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged students and students of traditionally under-represented groups are preferred.

Preference may be given to candidates whose background is similar to the target TRIO population. Work authorization and/or visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
