The ideal candidate for the Mechanical Engineering Intern position will have hands-on project experience, a comprehensive understanding of the underlying mechanical engineering principles that drive product design, and familiarity with design for subtractive and additive manufacturing.
Essential Job Responsibilities
  • Provide support to the design, development, prototype fabrication, and verification testing of unique specialty products, to include computer aided design (CAD)
  • Perform system and sub-system analysis, simulation, and design work as required
  • Work with mechanical system concepts and detailed designs to properly determine the necessary design tradeoffs
  • Interface with external vendors to procure parts and components required to complete development efforts
  • Participate in the assembly, system test planning, and system test procedure generation
  • Adequately document processes, procedures and testing using structured formats. Where formats do not currently exist, provide a recommended format for review
  • Learn and utilize the Quality Management System (QMS) and Project Management gating process
  • Interface with project teams and external customers as required, to support specialized product development

Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent + Must be working towards a Bachelor's degree with between 40% and 60% of the required credits completed.
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. secret security clearance
  • Self-starter. Seizes opportunities to initiate and take ownership of projects and improvements. Eager to broaden range of responsibilities.
  • Experience performing hands-on assembly of and modifications to electromechanical systems

Physical Requirements
Job performance will normally require only minor lifting and carrying of boxes of records or equipment.
