Job Title: Teen Program Specialist (Full-Time Seasonal - June-August)
Reports to: OST Teen Programming Director
Pay Rate: $17 - $19
POSITION SUMMARY:
Leads the day-to-day supervision of a designated Out-of-School Time (OST) program in alignment with state licensing standards. Fosters a safe, engaging environment that supports the growth and development of youth in 5th grade and above.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Program Leadership and Development: Lead the day-to-day operations of the Y on the Road (YOTR) summer program, ensuring alignment with YMCA mission and goals. Design and deliver innovative, engaging programming that meets high-quality standards for youth in 5th grade and above. Maintain an active on-site presence, working in-program a minimum of 35 hours per week.
  2. Staff Management: Support the Teen Programming Director in staff scheduling, hiring, and training to build and maintain a well-prepared, high-performing team.
  3. Parent & Community Engagement: Foster positive relationships and maintain effective communication with YMCA staff, parents, and participants, including consistent use of the parent communication app. Assist in planning and implementing family engagement and community events as assigned.
  4. Health and Safety: Adhere to all YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to health, behavior management, child abuse prevention, and emergency response. Maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications. In accordance with Michigan law, report any suspected child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
  5. Additional Duties: Support Child Nutrition Programs as assigned. Obtain and maintain a chauffeur's license to assist with program transportation as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Must be at least 21 years of age.
    2. High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
    3. Education and experience must meet Child Care Licensing requirements for Site Administrator
    4. Must be able to pass comprehensive background check.
    5. Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    • Must be able to participate physically with the children.
    • Some light cleaning is required.
