Job Responsibilities:

The Assistant Manufacturing Engineering Manager supports the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in leading and optimizing production processes, driving productivity improvements, and ensuring robust manufacturing systems. This role oversees a team of manufacturing engineers and is responsible for process stability, continuous improvement, and implementation of advanced manufacturing technologies across Assembly, Hot stamping, Cold stamping and laser operations. The position acts as a key interface between engineering, quality, maintenance, and production to ensure operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance with customer and industry standards.

Responsibilities:

Supports Magna Operational Principles and Employee Charter criteria within context and position's scope of work supports EBM's ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System, ISO 14001 Environmental Management System, IATF System, as well as Magna Safety and Magna Environmental Program requirements

  • Lead and supervise Manufacturing Engineers, providing technical direction and performance management.

  • Drive productivity improvements through Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and cost reduction initiatives.

  • Ensure process capability (Cpk/Cmk) and implement corrective actions when targets are not met.

  • Oversee and optimize processes in: Assy, Hotstamping, Coldstamping and Laser.

  • Develop and maintain standard work, process documentation, and control plans (PFMEA, Flow Charts).

  • Support new program launches (APQP), ensuring readiness of processes and equipment.

  • Analyze production data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Coordinate process validation activities (run@rate, capability studies and DOE)

  • Lead root cause analysis and problem-solving activities (PSW)

  • Collaborate with maintenance on equipment reliability and preventive maintenance strategies.

  • Support automation and digitalization initiatives (Industry 4.0).

  • Manage engineering changes and continuous improvement projects.

  • Support and enforce compliance with IATF, customer specific requirements and ISO 14001 procedures.

  • Promote a safe and healthy work environment for employees, contractors, and visitors.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering within automotive or similar industry

  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role

  • Hands-on experience with welding, stamping (hot & cold), and laser processes

  • Experience with OEM or Tier 1 supplier requirements

  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and APQP processes

  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher preferred)

  • Proficiency in engineering and data analysis tools (Excel, Minitab, etc.)

Skills:

  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
