Job description

Basic Function: Perform exceptional overall maintenance, construction and repair of resort facilities and equipment.

Work Performed:

  1. Respond and attend to guest room repair requests
  2. Communicate with guests and staff to resolve maintenance issues with little to no supervision
  3. Request, acquire and maintain inventory, parts and supplies as needed
  4. Safe use of hand and power tools and other material required to perform repair and maintenance tasks
  5. Repair or replace PVC/Copper pipe (including soldering)
  6. Troubleshoot and perform basic repair on all types of equipment i.e., plumbing, electrical, mechanical, etc.
  7. Program TVs and perform general housekeeping and engineering-related duties
  8. Assist with surface preparation and painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, filter replacement, etc.
  9. Thorough clean-up of painting and/or repair area
  10. Use of Lockout/Tagout system before preforming any maintenance work
  11. Use engineering computer programs related to maintenance work
  12. Perform expert troubleshooting of resort Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems
  13. Maintain shop areas, spare parts areas, storage areas and inventories of the materials, equipment and associated parts of the trade
  14. Repair, install, adjust and perform preventive/predictable maintenance and maintain the information in a shop log or document the assignment through the work order system
  15. Install and replace lighting fixtures and bulbs
  16. Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discusses machine operation variations with supervisors or other engineers to diagnose problem or repair machine
  17. Repair and maintain physical structure of establishment
  18. Fabricate and repair furniture and fixtures
  19. Perform and maintain work to local, state and Federal codes
  20. Repair and finish sheet rock
  21. Repair all types of wall coverings
  22. Communicate with engineering supervisor on projects as assigned
  23. Respond to all customer requests in a timely and professional manner
  24. Adhere to quality expectations and standards
  25. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of the other employees and guests
  26. Perform Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds and lead other engineers in maintenance duties
  27. Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
  28. Operate various equipment, maintain domestic hot and cold water systems and observe various electrical switchgear to ensure proper operation and repair/maintain as necessary
  29. Assist and lead Engineering staff with maintenance and projects to ensure quality workmanship
  30. Take water samples of boiler, loop, and cooling tower systems and treat the water to maintain predetermined levels of chemical concentration
  1. Skill in advanced electrical systems including and troubleshooting
  2. Possess expert knowledge and skill with HVAC systems
  3. Proficient use of computer systems
  4. Perform high level skills with laundry and kitchen equipment
  5. Responsible for guiding Engineering staff with Preventive Maintenance Program
  6. Assist Director of Engineering, Assistant Director and Engineering supervisors with general upkeep of the resorts systems and facilities
  7. Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

High school education or equivalent work experience. Expert skills in most of the following categories: air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems and controls, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation, and/or general building management. Prefer some experience in hotel/motel, high rise building or construction. Must have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with ease. Computer skills required. Strong guest and team member relations skills. Must maintain current CPR and First Aid certification. Safety sensitive position.
